Our household's "Sorry" game when I was a child was different to the one sold nowadays. It had a Japanese theme, and the text on the box was "From the Land of Politeness, 'Oh please forgive me'" followed by Japanese characters saying the same. You can see the picture of the boy bowing to apologise for breaking a vase, and the board has Japanese style trees in each corner. Still have the game packed away here... somewhere... Maybe I can find it before Christmas.

Hi @Faith-and-Hope@Smc@Mazarita@outlander@Former-Member and everyone here!

When I think of games, I think of my favourite which was and still is Monopoly. I loved that game and always had expensive tastes in the form of Mayfair and Parklane- the blue blocks! Even now, I love playing it although I haven’t played it in a long time with the general rule with me being if I don’t get the blue block, the game’s over!

I also like playing a game I call at the shopping centres called ‘Rockstar Carpark’ where I try and find the car park closest to the entrance. It’s a fun little game and makes shopping worthwhile!

@Smc what an unusual game!

@Faith-and-Hope i like puzzles too but not very good at crosswords.

@judi987 monopoly is a favourite of mine too, id love to get another game set but its abit harder trying to explain every step all the way to a young sister so might have jsut play me and the teenager.

Snakes and ladders though is pretty easy and a pretty good game too.

ha ha @Faith-and-Hope, my cat would do that if I did not have the box there for her to hop in , and with the box , she would use her tail , going back and forward through the pieces

My baby brother was the Monopoly King.

I like playing games and I really dont care who wins.

Backgammon, chess, cards ... not able to sustain interest in online games ... tho my son has tried... and I tried to indulge him ... thats life.

I'm like you @Appleblossom; board and card games are my thing, tho I do love an online game of Solitaire. It's not a game of chance, so that suits me.

When we were kids, the whole family used to play board games. One called Trouble was a family fave.

We never went without on a wet day; the cupboard was full.

My most prized game was Mousetrap!

Anyone else like Cluedo?

Mrs Peacock... in the pantry... with a big slice of the apple pie that she's pinched for a midnight snack! (Non violent adaptation. )

Re: Word for the Day - Comfort or Play

Game of choice for me for the past few years is 'Spider Solitaire' on my mobile/tablet. There's a 'daily challenge' I like to do once a day, and 'winning games' that can be played at any time. It's cool to get on one of the 'leaderboards', which I do fairly regularly, but I only play at the simplest level. I often play just to calm myself down when I get too wired.

At another time I used to play online scrabble on my desktop. There it was real life opponents. I used to get too frustrated playing that, so I stopped it.

Mostly I'm not a games person at all, but used to love playing 'hide and seek' when I was a kid. When young, I sometimes played it inside with my cousins. As a teenager, I remember some occasions when a group of us played it outside in our suburban street at night. That was thrilling!
