I'm new here - what is Topic Tuesday?

Topic Tuesday runs from 7pm - 9pm AEST monthly. Each month we focus on a different topic, with the session facilitated by a Community Manager or Moderator. Sometimes Topic Tuesday will feature a special guest, who is an expert in the topic.

The first post of the thread (this one) will give you an idea of what the topic is and what will be covered.

How do I get involved?

Topic Tuesday takes place right here! It's text based, so no software is needed. During the session, to keep up with the latest posts hit the 'refresh' button on your browser for the latest posts (it doesn't automatically update). Keep an eye for page numbers at the top & bottom of the page, and jump to the highest page number for the most recent post.

Throughout the session, the facilitator will put questions out for you to answer, usually asking for your own experience on the topic. To contribute to the session, just hit the 'reply' button and share your thoughts. No answers are right or wrong and everyone is welcome to get involved.

If you have any questions about how to use the Forums, check out our Guides.

I like that idea @Robert_Lifeline The last 2 years I have had christmas at my place - some through necessity so I didn't have to travel with being unwell and some so I had more 'control' over my surroundings. Both years have ended quite well - it is amazing how much better I have done being in what I consider a safe place for me at home.

@Former-Member What would yo like to do? Sorry for answering a Q with a Q - but really, you are the best person to answer that in terms of what matters to you, how you would want xmas to be (what were the qualities you wanted back then as a child? & how can you create activities etc around getting those?)...

@Zoe7 - I think you hit the nail on the head. Feeling safe/ in a safe place during the Christmas season makes it that much easier.

Thanks @Robert_Lifeline@Former-Member

@utopia This year I will be at my sister's place but it is only 5 minutes from my place so I can go home if I need to. I will also have Toby with me so that gives me an out if I need it.

@Former-Member I think starting your own traditions is important - it can be something as simple as making your own decorations with your son - making things that are oersonal to you. They don't even need to be 'christmassy' - but things that can brighten up your home.

Yer @Zoe7, they are some good ideas. I will admit there is one thing my son has done every Christmas since he could walk that is my favourite part of the day.

He started off afraid of Santa so when we gave him his santa prezzie he would first walk around the house checking every room and then he would close the doors and walk around the Christmas tree once he was happy santa santa wasn't in the house he would open the present now he does it hoping to find santa
