New start

Hi all

i hope this is where I introduce myself, so I am just going to go ahead. I am a middle aged women who has recently been diagnosed with bpd, I've been in therapy since Feb and was very fortunate to end up with a very talented psychologist who has helped me see myself ? I'm not sure if that makes sense, so I'm on the road to recovery and doing ok, I want to learn all I can about how to think and behave in healthier ways, especially for my husband who has stuck by me thru some very difficult years (decades) , not sure what else to add right now

Hi @Surfbird and welcome to the forums ..... 👋

Re: New start

Hi and thanks for the welcome, I appreciate it.

Not altogether sure I'm replying in the correct way but I will have a go anyway.

@Faith-and-Hope@appleblossum@Sophia1@TAB@frog@boot@nay69

i have "quiet borderline" and usually dissociate at any strong emotion especially anger, I was victim of (sometimes severe) abuse at the hands of 2 people who are both bpd and so my diagnosis was very hard to take, but I'm fighting on. I feel a bit lost at sea and alone even though I do have a good support system, I just feel as though my family and friends have no comprehension of what I'm going through so that's why I'm reaching out here

thanks for listening

Re: New start

Hello @Surfbird and another welcome

I'm not sure if you've had a chance to look around, but there are a few social threads you might like to join. You can find them all here.

When you are tagging other members, pressing "enter" after their name will make sure the tag works properly - you can see that it has worked because their name will show in blue/green. If it doesn't work the first time, you can always go back into a post and edit it by using the "post options" in the top right hand corner of the post. I hope that makes sense!

Welcome once again @Surfbird and please keep posting

Re: New start

Hello @Surfbird. I'm also a woman diagnosed with a complex mental illness in middle age. It was a bit of a shock to say the least, but has ultimately enabled me to live a better life. You sound like you have some real positives. I'm so happy that your husband has been solid for you, and that you have a good psychologist. I've seen the same psychologist coming up for 5 years and it has made a world of difference. Glad you found the forum - it's made a big difference to me. Welcome!
