Tired of trying to holding everything together

Tired of trying to holding everything together

I thought i had it tough when my youngest child was diagnosed with autism but that was just the beginning. After years of working hard to get some behavioural improvements from him. I can say I have been successful. However. I now have a husband who is deeply depressed. Meds don't seem to work. He has spent so much time in and out of hospi

Re: Tired of trying to holding everything together

Hi Maz,
What an exhausting situation you have. Mine seems to pale in comparission.
You sound like you have spent many years doing a stirling job.

I think that you too need respite. Are you getting some sort of carers payment from the government.

Its none of our business of course but you may be able to get some support services for yourself.
I found that as a career I could get some hours a week cleaning and respite. It really made all the difference to have that little bit of time for me.

Also, I spoke to my doctor and in the end went on anti-depressants myself. Its a long hard road and there is no failure in asking for help and admitting that sometimes it's just all too much for one woman (no matter how capable you are) to do.

Re: Tired of trying to holding everything together

I'm continually amazed at how some people can cope so well in adversity. They seem to have this inner strength that I wish I had. Wish I knew how to become stronger to handle this eternal caring role for my family - one with autism and 2 with depression. How do some people get thrown a bad situation and just run with it and talk about it with such self control and accept it without question. How do I become more resilient? Wish I had the answer

Re: Tired of trying to holding everything together

Hello @Maz

Dont compare yourself to others. @Shaz51 is right. There is a lot of boasting, drama queening and grandstanding out in the real world .. unfortunately.

You know when your tank is empty or you need a friendly smile, or understanding word. Believe that you are worth it and try and find supports.

Have you heard of AMAZE .. are they any help?

Take care
