Scratching habit

Scratching habit

I thought I kicked it for good but the other day instinctually I scratched my arms so hard, I caused bruises more than drew blood. I needed an instant realise something to channel all my anger and sadness in. I haven't done it in ages, I'm so disappointed but I couldn't think of another option. It begin after the news of my 55 year old dad and his wife having a new baby after him not really being emotionally present for me or my sister, that same day I fell over and my mum came home yelling at me for not cleaning her sheets. I was called lazy, we made up later but I just felt so exposed and weak. I just felt like everything had gone wrong that day.

Re: Scratching habit

That is one of my coping strategies that I love to use when I'm overwhelmed, or I don't like my emotion and need to get it out of me. Everyone has set backs that's normal and nothing to be ashamed or upset about. It's how you over come them is the key.

We all have poopy rotten days but tommorow is a new day and no one can tell what greatness it could bring.

Please don't be to hard on yourself 🙂

Re: Scratching habit

Me too.

I would unintentionally bruise myself by crossing my legs so hard when I was on the phone to my mother during her last year ... I was shocked when I realised.

I also used to wedge myself in parts of the car while driving to "hold on". I have long known about the necessity to let go as we cant control others ... but too much pressure has been put on me to control myself .. it has not been a supportive society for me. Another reason why I like not driving at the moment.

Tension and stress is held in the body .. and we need to keep finding productive outlets that suit our particular personalities.
