New on here with Bi polar disorder

Hi everyone . I have just been diagnosed with Bi polar disorder . Finding it very difficult to come to terms with but also relieved that maybe just maybe the tablets that they are starting me on today works i also have been abused in my childhood by my brother anx had an alcoholic very physically and mentally abusive father . Show childhood was terrible . I have been having ups and downs for the last 20 years or more and been on anti depressants for that long that have done nothing . Went to drs just yesterday had suicidal thoughts and after hours of talking to me they finally diagnosed me with the dreaded Bi Polar disorder .. Just on here as i thought joining a group would help as other people look at you as if you are an alien .. Hoping there are others just like me. Cheers stairhead

The other night I was'nt coping.

Exhausted

Realising that my husband needs me so much more than I thought ( coming to terms with that feeling....)

Both my sons have not had an idyllic childhood and I worked so hard to minimize that...then to be told by them they either drink or use illegal substances......

Realisation of my neighbour and friend's daughter and how her grandchildren are living has knocked me for ....shock

when you wrote you take interest in my posts.......those words have been playing in my head ever since.I got and am still getting a lift......

Thankyou Apple blossom have had an ok day today just not really coping with my diagnoses yet . Wishing this medications would kick in so i can laugh again. I cant believe i have to go out tomorrow night a dinner date with 6 other couples that was organised a couple of weeks ago. I really have trouble trying to be happy at the moment . But i guess we will just see what the afternoon brings tomorrow ... How was your day ? Hoping you feel well cheers Stairhead

Hi there cherry bomb thankyou so much i feel that these little talks will do me wondets or i am hoping .. i havent got a plan as such not yet anyway just trying to get my medication under control .. drs every week to see how i am coping and the mental health team here are in contact with me . So hopefully i will find strategies from others that have worked . Cheers Renee

your welcome,happy to help out.we all get down etc. i dont have bipolar but i do get depression and anxiety and when depressed i try to see it like a wave and i think like "well everything that goes up comes down and everything that goes down comes back up again" kinda like riding a wave.when down dont stress about it too much as i feel it takes longer to feel more "up" again i just "ride the wave" so to speak and my mind and body eventually picks itself up when its ready and if i accept somedays im a bit down instead of get into a spiral of "why is this happening to me" or other negative comments i will come good a lot quicker.thats life i suppose,we get up sometimes for no apparent reason,we get down sometimes for no apparent reason.we ate what we are,were also all very similar in ways at the same time all so unique,if that makes sense? remember no matter how bad things are for you theres always others who have it tough,sometimes more so,we only got one life,make the most of it! take care:)

Glad you are finding people to share with @stairhead.

I have been busy doing music for a few days and not online. That saves my sanity and has been helping me find ways to be social. Last night was a fabulous concert. I enjoy being one of many and we all work hard together. the atmosphere was operatic and light-hearted and fun ... There was a long while that I could not laugh ... your smile and laughs will come back ... and not just due to chemicals either.
