Scared and confused

Scared and confused

Sorry for long rant. I'm really starting to stress out. I've mentioned in a previous post about avoiding going to the ED as feel as tho I'm being judged.

My friend took me up one night as they were concerned for Me and apparently the hospital couldn't find a Dr despite ppl coming in after Me and going home before I was seen.

Well I went to a different gp yesterday as mine doesn't open Sunday's and they sent me up to hospital as they were concerned. However on arrival I got you must be sick of coming here from the nurse while the Dr basically made out I was wasting their time. When I went for scan the sonographer had a go at me as well

I went back to my regular gp today who has told me to not go back to the hospital.

I'm really scared as I feel as tho if I need help where do I go if the hospital basically ignore me as to them I'm wasting their time.

I then found out my gp who has done a lot for me is leaving at end of yr and I'm scared I'll have another opinion on treatment with no continuity of doctors.

Hello @Jessten

Continuity of care and trust is so important with doctors.

Stigma is still something we battle with, even in this day and age.

When I joined forum I had lost a trusted doctor as he became ill. That was over 4 years ago. Now I have a whole team.

It is good you have some notice, so look around ahead of time.

Best wishes with your search.

Hi @Appleblossom

Thankyou I guess I'm just scared. Throughout the process I lost who I thought was a trusted friend and I feel as tho it's a recurring battle whilst I understand drs come and go as I Said to mine it's hard when no Dr stays. I changed surgeries originally as the first practice despite the drs being the same they didn't listen. The new surgery I just start to get somewhere and boom the Drs would leave and I'd have to start over it sounds selfish but I just feel as tho why can't those who seem to help b able to stay.

Hello @Jessten

I don't think I have met you before, so it is nice to meet you 🙂

You seem to be in a tricky situation of trying to reach out for support, but the support from hospital hasn't been great, I am sorry to hear that, unfortunately you are not alone in that, like @Appleblossom said there is a lot of stigma and they are under resourced which is not helpful.

It is good you have a good GP but a big shame they are leaving at the end of the year, do you also have a psychologist for some ongoing support? It can be so very hard when your health workers leave jobs and you are unable to continue seeing them, it is good they gave you lots of notice to have time to work through for now.

Are you seeing a specialist for your surgery or is it through the public system?

Re: Scared and confused

Hi @Jessten It is important not to take the movements within the medical system personally. Though it does effect us when we are vulnerable, they are just the job movements of others on their various life paths.

Yes it does effect the quality of care. Doctors knowing a "history" can be more than just jotting some notes. I started making jokes, from pain, that the medical system was more unstable than me... ha ha ...

but just perservere. You are worth it.

One advantage I gained from the forum was I came to understand what proper health care actually looked like from the different people sharing their experiences. Continuity became part of my opening conversations, and eventually I found a stable set up.

Hi @Former-Member

Thanks for your response I live in a small town which makes it hard as my Dr has told Me not to go to the hospital.as they treat me horribly. The problem is it's the same doctors and nurses on each time with the nurses being the worst with what they say and questioning me over medication I'm on every time even if it's not related.

I'm not in a position where I can see a psychologist around work. I have previously with my last one telling me I was weird and the previous one telling me they don't understand me. I don't understand my life so I don't expect them to but I also find they judge rather than helping me get through barriers to work out what's causing my anxiety.

My health issues are through a combination of public system and my doctor with Me now being referred to specialists. My Dr apologised for leaving when I told them I read they were leaving which made me feel worse as I know everyone has their own lives.
