Self care- walking and cycling

Self care- walking and cycling

There used to be a thread around exercise but I couldn't find it so starting a new one.

Recently my GP has been lecturing me about more exercise in order to loose some weight reduce my blood pressure and get some other stress related ailments under control. Now is a good time for me to start as I have just started a 4 week study break from uni.

My goal is to do minimum 30 mins (target 1 hour) per day 5 days a week of either walking or cycling. Posting here as a form of accountability. I cant use the weather as an excuse as we have both a treadmill and an indoor cycle trainer 😁

Biggish ride Saturday

I piked Sunday am. Boys piked yesterday am.

Planning to head out early in the morning for a before school ride.

Feeling 🥱😵 Think all of the exercise is catching up with me.

No bike riding this week due to the tracks being too wet.

Managed a long walk during the week though and hoping to hit the trails on the bike with the boys this afternoon.

Have been a bit slack on the exercise this week.

The 5.45 and 6am alarms have been little more than vague annoyance somewhere in the distance lol. Planning to try again in the morning.

I had set some targets for November but life has had other ideas so falling well short 😵 😴

Overall it is an improvement on same time last year so onwards and upwards .

This is not any sort of new year resolution rather a process to conclude each school break 😁

As the new year settles in and the holiday crazies peter out we are trying to get back into exercise again. Goal is to mountain bike as a family 3 - 5 mornings per week (when it is not raining) at least until winter when ther will be insufficient light and darling and I would.lime to walk each afternoon also.

Under Dr direction before Christmas we tried a meal plan that eliminated certain foods. This had a significant impact on my energy levels. Unfortunately it was hard to maintain over the holidays. Hopimg to get back into this as we re establish routine leading up to school resuming. Hoping this will help with mIntainingn the exercise.

Usually burnout returns and I struggle to maintain being active but was doing well before seasonal indulgences. As a silver lining it has proved without a doubt that the additional efforts with meals are worth it. Not that we eat unhealthy. Just it it seems some small variations can be beneficial.

Managed day 2 of consecutive activities today and feeling really good about it.

Given the wet weather setting in will likely require setting the indoor cycle trainer in the living room to keep up with the schedule.
