My life partner has Bipolar ii

My life partner has Bipolar ii

I unapologetically care for my husband who after a long mental health crisis has been diagnosed with Bipolar ii + more.

It is a tough gig at times but I believe we can live well in spite of his diagnosis.

I understand that not all relationships can survive a diagnosis and this is no criticism or judgement on anyone but in this thread I would love to give to and receive encouragement from others who hold the same value I have, that is that I voluntarily chose to remain in union with my husband to the exclusion of others and to ride out the bumps of his mental illness.

Dubious humour is guaranteed.

Pain management sorted = much better sleep last night.

Was a combination of me not understanding the discharge instructions and Mr Darcy saying he did not need some pain relief when he needed it😵😵😵.

The fur babies have arrived and they have already brought joy.

@Determined

Suggested to Mr Darcy that we need to be strict today in relation to his new eating regimen until we get a better handle on it so he can build up his strength, which I am hoping will help his mood. He does not have the energy to walk the hounds as yet - something that helps his mental health. He is feeling quite low at present but that is to be expected.

Remember my Dad going through that process of finding strength and getting moving again fresh after surgery @Former-Member.

Thinking of you both 🙏

@Former-Member ..... Not great.... MsJ's employer shut down all his shops ND has taken the opportunity to put them on the market so her income is gone, her apprenticeship up in the air, and he has declined the jobkeeper payment for his employees. I make too much so she's not eligible for Centrelink... She has barely moved off the couch for three weeks and she's either not talking and distant, or short tempered and snappy. I've been trying my hardest to keep things as normal as I can around her but I'm working from home and doing all the housework so when I got a bit frazzled a couple of days ago and said that I wasn't invisible and she shouldn't treat me like it, it caused a huge argument. I'm worried she's going to make a stupid decision and walk out without realising in she is in a depressive episode...

Yikes @Jay-e

When depression sets in it is almost impossible to see the light at the end of the tunnel or the silver lining to take the opportunity to do something that one thought possible if time permitted such as to get a bit done around the house, try out the new recipe etc.

Re: My life partner has Bipolar ii

I have Bipolar 2. As long as I take my medication every day I am fine. I always say "I'm not crazy I'm just Bipolar." But it doesn't define me.

It's great you support hubby, but if he takes his meds as prescribed every day, keeps fit, and eats healthy he will be fine. Having Bipolar or any mental illness doesn't mean you will have a hard life, actually just the opposite.

If you live healthily and encourage him to join you, you will still have hard days but they will be few. The last episode I had was February and before that, a year ago.

People always paint mental illness with a tarred brush, but you just live and enjoy your life. It's no big deal at all.
