My life partner has Bipolar ii

My life partner has Bipolar ii

I unapologetically care for my husband who after a long mental health crisis has been diagnosed with Bipolar ii + more.

It is a tough gig at times but I believe we can live well in spite of his diagnosis.

I understand that not all relationships can survive a diagnosis and this is no criticism or judgement on anyone but in this thread I would love to give to and receive encouragement from others who hold the same value I have, that is that I voluntarily chose to remain in union with my husband to the exclusion of others and to ride out the bumps of his mental illness.

Dubious humour is guaranteed.

Re: My life partner has Bipolar ii

@Shaz51 how was your day?? O hope you're okay, big hugs... Words are funny things aren't they? I find that I analyse what people say all the time, and unfortunately that includes MsJay. I say unfortunately because it leads to arguments at times, particularly when her stress levels are high I find that she is more distant and less warm so sometimes the things that come out of her mouth feel a bit mean to me, or the tone feels a bit blunt or snappy. Intellectually I can say I know it's her illness and when she feels out of control she's trying to claw it back any way she can. But emotionally it can be tough! Especially at this time of year. Today turned out okay for us, yesterday was a rough one though. Nothing huge just that tense feeling that comes with anxiety.

@Former-Member @Determined @outlander @Mrsjones I hope you guys are all ok today x

Thank you so mcuh to everyone for the Christmas thoughts.

My baby and I spent a few hours in the hospital with Mr Jones although he wasnt in the greatest mood we were still together which is all that matter. Also saw my in laws and my parents but I felt pretty flat all day.

How was everyone else's day?

Its really refreshing to step away from the Christmas expectation and just have the day your way. Mr Jones felt every upset about it being our daughters 1st Christmas and the whole situation what I know im coming to terms with it.

2nd last ECT tomorrow, last one next Monday then time to concentrate on meds. His going back on meds he was on during a time in our lives where his mood was more sustained which his looking forward to trying again. Still have challenges around alcohol so we'll just plan, plan and plan to stay on track.

Love to you all

Just a quick note to say Happy New Year to you all and thank you for the support over the past 6 months.

Im spending NYE relaxing with a close friend of mine but will be staying away from any drinking, feeling a little too fragile so drinking is not a good idea right now.

What are everyones plans for NY? Party or relaxing night?

Re: My life partner has Bipolar ii

Will be quiet here also @Mrsjones

Weather permitting head out on the boat for a sunset cruise and some fishing then watch first round of fireworks from less populated vantage point. There is a family friendly early round of fireworks and another at midnight. We will watch the first Then long drive home and our boys want to see the new year in watching some family movies.

Our town has fireworks but not interested in being around people so we will head out of town to see some. Providing the weather is favourable or be out on the boat. Juat hope there are not 100 other boats with the same idea lol. So far so good for the forecast.

We don't do alcohol either in our family.
