Re: Negative Schizophrenia

@Cazzza Hi Cazzza I am a mother of a son with schizophrenia positive and I also have schizoaffective disorder manic type both of which are different from that of your son BUT I know first hand that if the psychiatrist says it is in the best interests of your son to be hospitalised then I would take her advice very seriously. How old is your son? If he is over 18 and legally an adult that could be tricky but not impossible to have him admitted. Far better if he does the admission himself I wonder if his psychiatrist can talk with him and yourself about a voluntary admission so he feels he has some control over the situation. No one likes to be signed over for a involuntary admission.

I know first hand going to hospital is awful (speaking for myself and my son) BUT it was necessary to help us when we needed it the most. It puts parents in a awful position but as parents we sometimes have to make these types of decisions to help our children no matter what their ages.

Good luck and please let us know how you get on. gp

Re: Negative Schizophrenia

Thank you so much. I will get him to his Pchtrist and take it from there. He does not want to go back. It is a modern private clinic. He won’t accept that he needs to go and get help. His Pchtrist said that he needs to get better.

It’s just horrible being seeing my beautiful son
like this. It breaks my heart.

Re: Negative Schizophrenia

HI Cazza,
If your son has said he will harm himself you can have the Police detain him under the Mental Health Act. It sounds cruel but it could be the only way he gets the help he needs. As a Mother of a almost 25 year ols Schitophrenia sufferer I feel your pain. I did this to my son and he still gets annoyed with me but I say to him. I did it because I love you and I want you to LIVE!!!!! Yes it is the most heartbreaking thing to watch our boys suffer like this beleive me I kmow. All the best XO
