Re: Battling MI whilst caring for someone with MI
Hello @utopia
Read your post here with interest....as I often find I do when I randomly look around the forum...your name pops up...your conversations often intrigue me...definitely some parallel thinking..
First of all I do believe that I am sticking to the title of this thread...as you are a person with MI and are looking after your son...not in a carer sense...still looking after someone...
so apologies @Bella1978 do not want to dismiss you or disrespect your discussion...feelings...Mother issues are the bane of my life and I have just written my own lengthy post re my mother...nearly 92 and ageing mind is revealing some of her ways of thinking...mother daughter relationship...
I commend you for supporting her...at the same time reinforcing putting yourself first....acknowledging that your feelings...emotions are real and you can acknowledge them as so....I shall be quiet now...
@utopia
re psychologist reaction on Switzerland subject probably thinking more along the lines of self preservation...ethics than reassuring your true feelings.....
mindfulness is important but is so overstated these days and sometimes a weak response...a bandaid solution...if you are angry...there is a reason why...yes checking in with self control and being assertive is more apt in my mind...
son's accident at school...not sure if already done... you are spot on with occ health...ask for an incident form for student from administration...these are required as part of occupational health and safety rules and laws....needs to be completed by son and dated where...when...how...you can help him of course..
I am sure that you are already organising a doctor to check him over ....keeping receipt of payment and asking doctor to write his findings on letterhead and sign....
Hope you do not think that I am butting in...I know that you are very astute...just thinking of you both...sometimes when we are in the midst of too much..we forget what we already know...
take care @utopia and @Bella1978

Took son to physiotherapist yesterday. It helped a lot. Son is walking around today. And lounging around. Girlfriend is here. Hopefully they will do the homework together that he missed out on yesterday.
I will get an incident report filled out. Good thinking. I was the OH&S Rep at work. Lol. But forgot all about the incident report. Will do that on Monday.
Hello beautiful @outlander. Enjoy your shopping today. Is it to buy mothers day present?
@Bella1978 - don't forget with all the things your mum wants you to buy for her today - to also get her a mithers day gift. I'd probably forget with that big list. Remember to hide it when you take in the other goodies later today
So up you get. In the shower (if you can manage today) & go and hit those shops. Sooner you srart - sooner you finish. God I'm a bossy boots today.
@Sophia1 - yes I will always find something to talk about. I'm a chatterbox. Even via typing. Lol.

I highly recommend listening to some of his songs on youtube. Best ones are "Bapu" or "Bapa" "Gopuru" & "Djotarra". Will also send you soaring peacefully in the sky.
