Fragile

Fragile

For a while I have tried to find a thread I had started when I joined the forum that could be a "home" thread for me.

Being busy about the forum has been a coping style, where I can acknowledge all my different life experiences that had been silenced. Possibly do some good and prevent things from getting worse. Like the little boy with the finger in the dyke.

Re: Fragile

Wow @Appleblossom

When I saw that picture - I had to look again - and digging down to all that social injustice - yes! It's overpowering. Then reading your whole post - we can't change much of that - some perhaps - but not all of it

However - there inevitably will be confrontations. And yes - if we stay silent something will change within ourselves - and this might not be for the good. If we can't learn to act with positive assertion there will be more oppression and that's so disappointing - oppression leads to more oppression.

Even if we are assertive we may not feel we have gained anything but I truly believe we have. When we make an effort we increase the stress-lines in our personalities and this is good. In the long run the most important thing we can improve is ourselves and in doing that we gather tools to speak out for society. I think I have - I am sure I have.

But that picture - such a small spade for such a huge problem but then - it's better a small spade than no spade at all

Dec

Um - yes - I can do betterYes - let's not give up because our influence is small - get more spades and gather some more people

Love it @Appleblossom

Re: Fragile

Hi @Appleblossom saw an unpleasant exchange on another thread that made me want to come and ask if you are okay today.

Thank you for support and thoughts @Snowie @Emelia8 @Shaz51 @Owlunar

@Mazarita I am delicate today, but for lots of reasons not just that exchange. I cant fix him and I cant take it as my problem. I am going to a lunch and music appointment which is really great.

Talk later

Re: Fragile

Good attitude about not taking that sort of thing as your problem, @Appleblossom, because obviously it's not. Enjoy your lunch and music, Bella.

I am recovering today from NDIS phone interview yesterday. I had nil sleep the night before and had to take a strong pain med that night as well, so I was in a surreal and groggy headspace for the interview. But I actually think it may have helped that I could only speak slowly and had no mental energy to start nervously raving on in an unhelpful way which happens so often arising from my anxiety. Interviewer said I would have a plan in a week!

Hi @Snowie @Owlunar @Shaz51 @Emelia8 hope the afternoon and evening treat you well.

Re: Fragile

@Mazarita Once accepted things should settle but I found it totally draining for a while. Just pace yourself and give plenty leeway to get through. With supports in place life feels a little better. I could honestly tell my gp that I felt better supported than ever before in my life.

My lunch was slightly different than I expected but interesting, chatting and laughing and talking straight. I was able to say "no" to one offering because it would have been too much for my weekend, and say "yes" to another, which was good.

@Snowie

Thanks for posts Bella.

Re: Fragile

@Appleblossom pretty sure the severe headaches I've had the past few days have been set off by that NDIS pre-planning appointment. The extreme lack of sleep and odd hours. I probably can't really do this kind of sleeping pattern anymore without paying for it physically. Really not sure why the whole NDIS thing has quaked me so deeply. Looking forward to actually starting the support. Whole different scenario when that arrives, I believe.

Good to hear you were able to moderate what you would and wouldn't say yes to at the lunch. It was a relief when I dumped a swag of projects in the first half of last year. Breathing space.

Re: Fragile

@Mazarita could it be you are not sleeping because it might be that you are afraid to get your hopes up?

@Appleblossom - Wow.. Your artwork is amazing and yes, more needs to be done to dig deeper into delivering mental health services in a way that makes us feel like people rather than a diagnosis.
