the Easter 'break' is over.......

the Easter 'break' is over.......

Not sure how many of you have worked in an office before or any customer facing job ...

Last week one fo the customers said to me 'You won't know yourself' - he mentioned something about the long weekend - ....what he was really saying is 'You never leave the counter - never see you take any holidays'.......

strange thing to say - where do they get these weird expressions from - 'know yourself' - what does that mean???

Not true - I was away in January but he probably didn't notice ....

What do they expect ? Do they want me to 'disappear' for a couple of months in October or November

or some other time ?

Work is work - I have to work.....

Today another bloke - not a customer - one of the reps - reckoned it was 'nice' I think that was what he said that we closed from Friday to Monday....

For me I was at home most of the time and I had some digestive problems and a sore neck - ongoing problem

If I had to work on Monday I would work..if I had to work on Friday I would work - if they paid me

lot more though 🙂 3 times what I normally get per hour

There was one customer who asked me how the break was I told him I didn't go anywhere...

The good thing is I reckon no one will mention it anymore..hopefully not

This sort of thing happens every year - some people make comments other people don't

I like the people who don't ask anything personal

Anyone have the same feeling?

@jamesle2015 I have worked in retail and offices. Sometimes it feels better keeping things business like and not mixing private and public life.

In my teaching things tend to get more personal as its a personal service. Still it is important to keep the professionalism in it.

Working with the general public you get all types, and people sometimes see you as a person and sometimes dont, depending on where they are at in their lives. Sometimes they make those little comments, often just to be friendly.

They may be like me, awkward and "practising" being social .. but clumsy ...

If you are not comfortable with what is said ... try and let it run off .. like water off a ducks back ..

Take care @jamesle2015
