I'm new here - what is Topic Tuesday?

Topic Tuesday runs from 7pm - 9pm AEST monthly. Each month we focus on a different topic, with the session facilitated by a Community Manager or Moderator. Sometimes Topic Tuesday will feature a special guest, who is an expert in the topic.

The first post of the thread (this one) will give you an idea of what the topic is and what will be covered.

How do I get involved?

Topic Tuesday takes place right here! It's text based, so no software is needed. During the session, to keep up with the latest posts hit the 'refresh' button on your browser for the latest posts (it doesn't automatically update). Keep an eye for page numbers at the top & bottom of the page, and jump to the highest page number for the most recent post.

Throughout the session, the facilitator will put questions out for you to answer, usually asking for your own experience on the topic. To contribute to the session, just hit the 'reply' button and share your thoughts. No answers are right or wrong and everyone is welcome to get involved.

I had a particular med years ago that caused sudden drowsiness - I’d suddenly not be able to keep my eyes open and fall into a micro sleep. I wasn’t driving anywhere but it got a bit awkward at work! I’d be in meetings, drop out and then wake up with people staring at me. I never had the courage to ask if I’d said something inappropriate while I’d been ‘elsewhere’!

The weight gain & sweating make me extremely uncomfortable to go out in public, especially if I think I might sweat. The weight just makes me feel crappy about myself.

On the upside, I adopted a puppy in November and since she requires so much exercise I've been forced to get out and walk. No avoiding, no excuses, no way to cancel even if I'm in way too much Pain.

I've lost 15kg since Nov just through walking.

Drinking about 4 - 5litres of water a day due to dry mouth

@FeeFee1976 I know that feeling - being able to focus on breathing helps ward off the approaching grey

God @Charli - I had a similar experience with some med combination about 10 yrs ago. They thought I had narcolepsy! The sleep specialist diagnosed me and everything!

@Former-Member accepting the side effects and learning to love with them. I’ve tried a heap of other meds and there will always be side effects, gotta live with them. Living without meds is no better for me - haha with anxiety meds I pee my pants, without anxiety meds I poo my pants 😂

Thank you @Former-Member, @Former-Member. @Liss23 for your encouragement , I have just told my Mr shaz so fingers crossed for the further

share more about the challenges in your day to day life have you faced when dealing with these side effects?

ammm @Former-Member, My mr shaz finds it very very hard to get up and get started in the morning , as we are self employed on a verryyylow income

next when we come home for lunch, he will fall asleep after lunch , and after a few hours of work his anxiety rises , panic attacks start

we try to get home early as mr shaz gets worse , dizzyness, forgets peoples name and what we are doing next , and then in bed early
