Re: I think my treating team hates me.
Hello @qsin
Learning of a diagnosis of a mental illness is very difficult to hear..
Facing other people in our lives who are important to us around this issue can also be very daunting for many..most...
Add to the above the feeling of not being heard or cared about....leads to huge struggles..
I am wondering if you have a regular gp with whom you can book a double appointment and discuss exactly what has been happening....your feeling of despair on new years eve and feelings of lack of support within the mental health system..families and friends...
There are a myriad of services out there and vary from state to state..
.the main one being lifeline 131114 and also Suicide Call Back Service 1300 659 467 (24 Hrs)
Make some notes describing how you are feeling now...the services that you already have had ...the last mental health team whose care you were under...
your gp is able to put you on a mental health care plan to see a psychologist or psychiatrist...at no cost to yourself..paid via medicare...
ask about community support groups within your area.....phams....
centrelink is a concrete structure created by the authoritarians...they will have you doing headstands...cartwheels....the utmost to justify paying you...
if you are on medication perhaps even a medication adjustment would assist in the long term..a referral to a psychiatrist who can help with your diagnosis will assess the situation...will be helpful in the long term to have a person whom you can trust to talk about your feelings with....this will be your main communication line...then phams and other community programmes run along side..
I am sorry that it took so long for someone to respond to you...a community guide should be along shortly...I will check in on you later today if you have not had a response we can alert a moderator..
there are many of us who feel not listened to...be there for yourself and believe in yourself

Hi @qsin
Welcome to Forum Land. I'm really sorry to hear that you think your treatment team hates you. I doubt that they actually hate you, but I can well-believe that they aren't as committed to supporting you as they could (and I think, should) be. It sounds like your treatment team is in the public health system, is that right? The public system is definitely not what it should be!
In my experience, it is very VERY hard to find helpful helping people - especially when you can't afford private care. Do you have a GP that you find helpful? I have only found a good GP in the past two years, after dealing with mental health issues for more than two decades! Although they are very hard to come by, if you CAN find a good GP, this can be a really good start in feeling supported.
You will find that many of us here in Forum Land can relate to the feelings you describe. Even though we can't fix the problem, I hope that just knowing you aren't alone in having these experiences will help a little bit.

Re: I think my treating team hates me.
Hi @qsin my experience with my daughter is to get her into seeing a good private pdoc (I know it costs but hear me out) with the view of getting onto the disability pension. It has gone through thank god. She was incapable of working due to deep depression that she was suffering and it was the only way to get anyone from centrelink to take her seriously. The public health system I have found myself sucks when I was clearly psychotic they stopped my medication.
Is there anyway you can get a referral to a private pdoc?

Re: I think my treating team hates me.
@Phoenix_RisingThey might not hate me but I really feel like they don't care or at least think I'm lying. Everytime I called and wanted to talk to someone like my case manager no one would answer I would leave a message and it'd take two-three days for them to call me back, if they did at all. I wrote this huge long letter (I think 5 pages) of all my thoughts and feelings and no body talked about it, no one mentioned it or thought it of any concern. In fact, I had to call up 3 weeks later to book another appointment.
I have a new case manager and I spoke to the head of the service so hopefully things will be alright now.
@BunniekinsI am applying for DSP but the whole process scares me. I personally think I'm not ready to work and centrelink and the government have so much power over me, I'm struggling so hard with my finances, nobody wants to lend me (fair enough) so I have to take out quick loans to pay but obviously this leads to a terrible cycle (I'm aware of it but it's a poverty trap, escaping, especially in my condition, is so difficult), and that they can reject me at which point I would have no idea on how to escape my financial issues. It has already taken two months to process and then 3 weeks to get a job capacity assessment then I have to see a government psych and the whole ordeal is just disheartening and lengthy.
How would I find a good psych? If I do get DSP I would probably pay for a private psych (the idea that I have to pay someone to stop me from offing myself is another depressing thought).

@qsin Hi qsin yes as you say the whole thing is depressing. The public system has huge flaws ... what you say happened to you I can absolutely believe.... I hope your new case manager is like a breath of fresh air for you and gets things on the move towards getting you the help that you deserve.
As for the DSP my daughter's psychiatrist was the one who initiated it with her. She got her psychiatrist through luck .... they are like hen's teeth the good ones that is. Sometimes it is not what you know but who you know .... other than that through your trusted gp.
Good luck qsin let me know how it all goes. Wishing you well. gp
