Something’s not right

diagnosis??

diagnosis??

Hello everyone, I'm wondering if I am sudffering from anxiety? I frequently get quite stressed, sleep poorly, frequently cancel appointments, feel like "I can't be bothered", my hands shake, I seem to worry about what my hubby says are 'insignificent' matters. Although I sleep poorly, I sometimes wonder what is the point in getting out of bed and sometimes, what is te point of even being alive. I have no hobbies and home life is stressful.. Thanks for reading this,,,

Re: diagnosis??

Hi @tyson1
I never feel like its good for us to label one another as sometimes the full story is difficult to understand/see from words alone, but i think if you feel as though something isnt quite right, and those symptoms are bothering you like they are then there is probably something awry, so would definitely recommed that you trust your feelings/instincts.
I have ptsd/anxiety and depression and struggle with all those things too and its hard sometimes. I tend to try to do things that help with the symptoms rather than worry about the labels in their entirety but i've had a lot of help from my psychologist in the past (sadly she left not long ago..). Getting out and staying busy helps me sometimes but it can be really hard to do more than work and necessity stuff.
Seeing your gp could be a good place to start to talk about whats going on for you and getting some help, like through a counsellor or psychologist. I need to look at that again as well as i'm struggling. and i think a bit of a flag for you needing that extra help might be that you are wondering about what the point of even being alive is...?
I hope that the forums are a place of support for you, feel free to look around and join in anywhere that grabs your interest, its a friendly place 🙂 Take care for now, hope to see you around!

Re: diagnosis??

Hi @tyson1. I'm not sure I can add much as @Former-Member has said it so well, but I wanted to say hi and welcome. I live with anxiety, PTSD and depression and I think anxiety/PTSD can make me feel shaky, stressed, overwhelmed, have sleep troubles etc. Depression seems to give me that "why bother", "what's the point" thinking. When that starts creeping in often or becomes hard to shake, that's when it's usually a sign I might benefit from some extra support

A clinical psychologist, GP's and psychiatrist/s have been involved in diagnosing what's going on for me. I access my psychologist through a mental health care plan via a GP, which is a great place to start if you think there's something not quite right as lisajane mentioned.
There are some really great threads around the forum that talk about coping strategies that I find can be applied to lots of different experiences which might be helpful for you if you'd like to check some out. This one here is one that comes to mind. You can also use the search function to find threads about specific topics like anxiety if you're interested too.
Hope you find it helpful to be here 🙂

Re: diagnosis??

Hi @tyson1 ..... I agree that it sounds like something is going on, and it’s treatable, so I am suggesting that you start with your gp too.

We have been living with long term stress in our household, and all feeling the effects of it. Coping strategies and self-care are our first line of defence. Please take care of you ..... you matter too.

Re: diagnosis??

Maybe you can try a community group support @tyson1 and see if that helps ? Or relaxation class. The teacher may be able to suggest other avenues too.
