It doesn't affect me to talk about it @TAB. Not atall. In the first mmonth I didn't tell many people - coz I thought I would jinx myself. And talking in the early days would jinx it.

Re: Support with drinking problem
Well its your choice as they say @utopia but it does concern me. Certain organisations say you shouldn’t try to help others/talk about it for years after stopping. Yet. They go to meetings all the time and do nothing but reminisce and talk about it .so its a contradiction I guess. Well under that system. Anyway just feeling crap all of a sudden. Am going lie in hot bath then go for a walk. Then face the World re shops and food. Thanks again for listening 😀

It was okay thanks @utopia😀 sun was shining. Saw raggedy looking guy walking same direction. He walked into a bar just after a big sidestep/stagger. He looked like he was forcing self to walk straight before that. Then heard aboriginal guy ask someone for money. They replied ‘I’m on the cashless card same as you mate’ ..life .. anyway Im home again. Thinking lounge tv and re read wknd papers Thanks again 😀

Re: Support with drinking problem
Me either @utopia I haven’t registered mine yet as haven’t been eligible for payment re work. It seems govt is prepared to give what amounts to 50% of benefit paid to a private for profit company on top of benefits just for sake of punishing people. Prob costs them over $3 it used to cost to pay $1 in benefits Its a complete scam And besides that I have been shown first hand that it doesn’t actually work. Its very simple to get around.

Re: Support with drinking problem
@TAB - I think it's bloody degrading having to use the card. It has been targeted mainly towards aboriginals on welfare. They have bought it out in the large town near. Which just happens to have a large Aboriginal population. Centrelink haven't suggested I go on it. Strange. But then I have no aboriginal heritage. Just saying. Putting two and two together.

Re: Support with drinking problem
Its more obvious than that here @utopia re who they are targeting. Plus look at other areas where it’s happening. All have large aboriginal populations. Everyone who is not on an age pension has to go on it. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Its a simple fix. Cut centrelinks budget in half. Sack most of them and their contractors/hangers on. Make it simpler to get. Just go into Post Office show passport and prove you need it/aren’t working enough. Sounds simple. Oh wait, that’s how it was 40 years ago so surely this way is better Not ha ha and it you do get work, tax gets taken out at end of year. If you didn’t work. Well you must have needed it then. The real unstated target is black economy ie d ru g s Its not a coincidence government is trying to remove cash from the system not long after making certain medicines prescription only

Re: Support with drinking problem

Re: Support with drinking problem
They definitely need to raise all pensions @TAB. Even raising it $50 a week - it will still be under the poverty line. But hopefully will reduce the depression and despair people feel. Near impossible to rent in the cities or suburbs. Even my little town, the average rent is more than my mortgage payments. There are other ways to help people if they are spending their money on alcohol or drugs than this stupid card. But then the government would need to have a compassionate and moral fibre. Which this government doesn't. Yes, pensions are there for those who need them.
