My special place

My special place

Well yesterday certainly threw everything off track. But thanks to some very thoughtful and kind people I was able to get threw it and continue.

I cannot say a lot about what happened as I am sure you all understand but need this support in place.

Things WILL be ok, just a lot to work out.

Psych visit yesterday sorted out some of the things and more things will be happening early next week.

I am sorry if I put anyone through any despair, but unfortunately what happened yesterday morning had to be done.

Thank you all for your continued support.

It's so wonderful to hear that you had a good back day last week!! It's immensely relieving when our pain subsides. @GezzaP

Do you think icing it has been the most helpful part? 🤔

It's cooled down a lot in my neck of the woods! Is it still warm where you are?

Oh! And have you been doing any gardening as of late? 🫶

Re: My special place

Thanks @tyme

I haven't done much today. No real motivation to do anything. I guess at least I got some washing and ironing done.

Yesterday was quite a day with dealing with issues from mum.

The tennis last night was a good match. Will be watching the mens final tonight too. Hopefully I can stay awake for it all.

Hi @AuntGlow

The last week has been hard. Had a few things happen that didn't help. Had ECT on Friday too.

Still counting down the days until my psych is back. 10 days left.

H has been busy working most of the week. Spent some time with him today which was nice. Actually slept last night which was a bonus!

Re: My special place

Hey @Snowie ,

Maybe you just needed an easier day today?

How are things going for your mum? Is she at the care facility now?

Re: My special place

I certainly think a day at home was needed @tyme

Mum is in a care facility. She is going ok but I have noticed a decline in her.

She lost her credit card last week, and then this week she lost some jewelry. Both times she said someone must have taken them, but she would have just forgotten where she put them.

She has been complaining that her phone and ipad aren't working and need new ones.

Her devices are fine. Whenever I test them they work. Unfortunately it is her forgetting how to use them, but thats the last thing I can say to her.

Re: My special place

It must be so hard to see her decline @Snowie

I've work with the elderly before, and as you said, you just go with what they say. I hope it's not taking too much of a toll on you as it can be so stressful.

What does your self care tonight look like?

Re: My special place

The decline is hard to watch @tyme She says to me a lot that she wishes she wasn't alive. I can't say I blame her.

Most of the time I just agree with her, easier that way.

She calls me about 3 different names depending on the day. I just answer to all.

It can be very stressful at times. I wouldn't wish this on anyone.

Tonight I'm curled up on the couch in my pj's, with a hot milo watching the mens tennis final.

Very comfortable!! Will see if I can stay awake for it all.

Looking forward to the winter Olympics starting soon too. Will be glued to the tv for them!

Re: My special place

I guess it's about allowing her to enjoy her time and making the most of the time she has left. It's certainly not easy at all @Snowie , on you nor her.

As for tonight, I hope you enjoy the tennis finals - is it doubles?

Hehhee, that's great that you enjoy the winter olympics. I'm totally outta the loop, but I'll wait to hear any news from you!

Re: My special place

Physically mum is fine @tyme Nothing wrong with her. Doesn't use a walker, walks all the time, gardens, very active. It's just mentally where she struggles.

I have actually called Dementia Australia quite a number of times. They have been a help.

It's the mens singles tonight. Last match for the Aus Open.

I watch any sport to do with the snow. Will be glued to the tv for it. Will certainly keep you up to date.

Re: My special place

I'm so glad to hear that Dementia Aus has been helpful. I dont' know much about them, but I remember talking to you about it a while back.

Do they offer support over the phone or something @Snowie ?

Also, since ECT, do you feel anything has shifted?

Totally okay if you arent' up to talking because you must be enjoying the tennis!
