Life coaches

Anyone else feeling stuck, confused and lonely? The days are long and I would love to change things. I admire people who have a job or interests they really enjoy. How do you get that passion back? Psychologists can be great, but they can be unwilling to make suggestions. Has anyone tried Life Coaches for helping to work out life direction?

Re: Life coaches

Hi @Isla
Welcome to the forums, im not sure if we've crossed paths before 🙂 Hope that you find the forums helpful!
I havent seen a lifecoach personally but ive been to a couple of professional development days where there were speeches or presentations from such people and found them quite motivational and uplifting.. but the critical side of me also feels a bit dubious (though i don't know where that comes from hehe.. i might just be feeling as though that kind of energy and positivity is out of reach for me hehe!). I have also found the my psychologist and other mh people that i have worked with have been happy to make suggetions and give advice when i needed, i think sometimes it can be about finding the right therapist/psychologist who's practicing a method(s) that is most compatible with what you need.
Hope your day is ok.

Re: Life coaches

Hi @Isla

I have felt the way you are describing many times in my life - unmotivated, stuck, depressed and disheartened for many reasons. Life throws some crap at us at times and it can rock our passion and fervour for life. How do we get that passion back?

For me I had to do abit of soul searching. I had to work out what really mattered to me in life and what type of person I wanted to be. This all came to a head when I was about 28, feeling empty and stuck. That was my first step forward. Finding purpose in life aids in motivation. Going after what really matters to us - what gives our life meaning and wnat we gain fulfilment from is the essence of passion. It's finding the latter and ourselves, which can entail trial and error, in order to get back passion for things and life. As long as we keep trying we will move forward. It's just knowing what direction to take the first step by working out the above and then go for it.

It is not about the almighty dollar - passion is another word for love and going after and doing what we believe in (i.e. Where we can make a difference in the world). That's the fulfilment. The rest leaves us wanting, empty and living the mundane.

We do need to be in the right headspace somewhat for success and to feel passion again. Determination, resilience and a positive outlook no matter how against the odds something is will see that passion realised. The latter is where many get stuck as we doubt things, life, and ourselves. It's pushing through that to move forward - pushing through the hurts, the disappointments, the losses, the betrayal, the illnesses, the heartaches, toxic people, financial restraints, the lack of motivation and focusing on our goal of what is important to us and not lose sight of it no matter what:- - "learning to cope better with life's obstacles so as not to become stuck or defeated". And with this at times we will need help with - either through a caring professional or trusted other who seeks only our best welfare". Reaching out to the right people helps to become unstuck too. But primarily it's about finding who we are and what drives our passion and going after that which will see us move forward with one small step at a time.

That is what it was like for me and still is. Finding and doing what brings out the best person I can be - that which makes me feel really alive and better about myself. That is my story. Hope it has helped a little.
