Read and reply to save me

Hey there
I’m not going to get into the background of everything, one thing is that we’ll be here forever but I also assume it’s much like everyone else’s.
I have diagnosed chronic depression and social anxiety, a few other things that aren’t diagnosed officially, only because I stopped going to my appointments.
Long story short, mental illness is something I’ve dealt with for a long time yet have never had under control. Therapy never helped and medication heightened my paranoid. Hobbies don’t keep me distracted and drugs are not a long term solution (nor is it any solution anymore, 7months clean).. I’ve just learnt to get used to it in a sense and accept it. I know that’s probably one of the worst things but I felt so helpless, still do. The rest is kind of like a movie – I felt my life was one episode until, yes, I met a boy. He lived in another state to me and wasn’t the best influence but I fell in love with him. He saved my life more times than I can count; he was the first person to care for me properly. He convinced me to stop drinking, stop smoking, stop doing drugs and all the other dangerous crap I was into. He without a doubt helped me out of the darkness, without even realising it. I knew I HAD to be with him, so when the opportunity came to actually be with himI dropped everything – a potential career, my family and friends, my kitten Obama – everything, to move to a different state and live with him and his family. Things were good, really good but then those dark feelings came back along with the bad voices in my head. I’ve told him about my mental illness before, he knows what I suffer from but that’s it. He doesn’t understand it, nor does anyone up here. I’m not annoyed, it’s how he was raised (I can tell from his parents) to think suicide is an attention thing, depression is a cop out, anxiety is weakness. Lots of times I’ll cry over the smallest things and get told off for it. That’s what lead me to this website. Right now I’m alone – not physically, but emotionally, mentally. Me and this boy have gone through a lot and in hind site, we probably shouldn’t have gotten together – we are too different and fight all the time. The good times are so good, but the bad times are scary. I run away a lot when we fight badly, and my stupid mind always thinks he’ll chase me and carry me back inside but he never does. I think I expect too much of him. It’s not like I haven’t told him what I want him to do in those situations because I have but I guess he forgets. He’s learning though, only recently though. There’s a lot of things going on here I can’t talk about as I’m scared if someone reads this and figures out who I am….I honestly am not sure I’ll survive what would happen next. This environment..it isn’t safe. Especially for someone as weak as me. I hate it, but I’m trapped here. My parents long ago rejected my (due to my mental illness, they didn’t understand and simply didn’t want to. They payed for an apartment for me to rent – part of me thinks they were secretly hoping I’d leave their lives. Not once since I moved here have they made plans to see me or for me to see them). Ahh this is probably getting too long but I have so much to say. Really what I want – or need – is someone I can talk to who will listen and just, get it. Someone who gets what I’m going through and can simply talk to me. If I find anyone here I’ll go into more detail about my life, as I currently have no other people I’m allowed to talk to (long story). If anyone has bothered to read this…thank you….if anyone got this far and wants to message me, I beg of you to. I can’t be alone anymore.

Re: Read and reply to save me

Oh @Balnorcia, please dont ask me for advice! I'll be like your ex friends. If you were my sister or close friend, and given what you've told me today, I'd suggest that you run as hard and as fast from there as you can. Sorry, but if he is emotionally abusive now, it is only likely to get worse. I live with an emotionally and psychologically abusive partner myself, and do not want to see you in the same place. My problem has always been that I love my partner, and I think in his own way, he loves me too. But none of that excuses the abuse. Nor does those sometimes really good times, ever offset the really bad ones. I know you didnt want to hear any of this, as no doubt you've heard it from your own friends before, and decided to ignore it. I want you to be happy, but you're so very vulnerable where you are, and I honestly fear for your safety and wellbeing.

Re: Read and reply to save me

Hi @Balnorcia

Sorry for the late reply as I just read your thread. My daughter has gone through very similar to how you are feeling (my daughter's problem started at a very young age of 15 due to bullying, rape when out of our care for a short time and being in an abusive relationship which she now is out of, to her credit and with our help had the strength to leave; - she has improved a lot and will be 22 this April but still battles). We can never heal or improve whilst being abused - so if you ever find yourself being of the receiving end of such run! My daughter is with someone now who does not fully understand what she goes through and was not sure if he could handle it - but is currently doing his best at the moment to help her together with us, her parents.

She did survive several near fatal attempts and it's been a real rough ride for her but she is vastly improving now - so there is light at the end of the tunnel - hang in there one day at a time. It's rough that your parents are not there for you, that must hurt a lot. Just wanted you to know that you are not alone here and that I care. Sending a warm hug xx

Re: Read and reply to save me

@Balnorcia I read your post, and all the replies too. There are a lot of good suggestions for you to try when you are able to.

There are agencies you can phone who will help you, some will even visit you secretly at your request, I know because I had to do it.

I know you feel really horribly alone and that no one understands, and I know what that feels like too, but these people here do understand and if you can keep coming back, you won't feel so alone.

You sound like a very caring, loving person, take a moment to love and care for yourself, a flowering weed, a pretty sunset, a nice cuppa.

Anything.

One thing each day.

Re: Read and reply to save me

@Balnorcia - welcome to the forum.
Love. Being in love. My advice:
Just because you love someone does not mean that it's a safe or healthy relationship to be in.
My thinking is that your bf and his parents are very manipulative and rude.
A real man does not spend the little amount of Centrekink his gf earns, while he takes a year off and bludges.
A real man does not try and isolate his gf by deciding that she can't travel on public transport.
A real man does not allow his family to bully his gf & decide who she can or cannot talk to.
I say cut your losses and head back interstate tio your home.
Being isolated, you are restricted in accessing counseling. However, you can find counselling services over the phone and internet. If you call the SANE Helpline they can let you know about such services in your state.
I worry about what is happening to you. It is not good for your mental health.

Re: Read and reply to save me

@Former-Member @Former-Member @SunShiwer @utopia thank you so much guys for replying. Sorry I haven’t been on in a while it’s hard to get on and start typing without anyone knowing; because of things I’ve been accused of by the family in the past I feel like everyone watches me when I’m on my phone, and I don’t want my boyfriend to know I’m talking here, he’ll worry.. things have been up and down the past couple of days. Friday was bad, very bad - as in had a mental break-down and ended up running outside in the rain to the end of where I live (large block of land) and cried until I got a migraine. I hope you guys are going better than me! Me and my boyfriend had a serious talk: neither of us can keep doing what we’re doing so he decided one more fight and that’s it, we’re over. I’m not sure how I feel about it yet. It’s only been a day and a bit and I’m already finding myself struggling to hold me tongue, even over small things (like him being grumpy in the morning and snapping, or him being on his phone too much etc). For now I think I’m going to have to see what happens. I’ve read what you guys said..I have a lot to think about.

Another thing I’m wondering if any of you experience is weird dream. This comes and goes for me but has come back up again recently. I have dreams that are incredibly vivid and real, and I dream about the day I just had (eg if it’s sunday, that night when I go to sleep I’ll have a dream about Sunday again from the moment I woke up) and things happen exactly as they did in real life but small differences, I make different decisions and different things happen - it gets to the point that when I wake up the next morning I can not confidently tell you what happened yesterday as I can’t tell what actually happened or what I dreamt. It’s very confusing and stressful as a lot of the time I feel like I’m losing control of reality - I have to keep asking people if we did certain things just to clarify what happened no more than 24 hours ago.. i hope that makes sense, does anyone else experience the same thing?
