New here ...

Hello
I've been having increased difficulties with depression and anxiety in recent months, years really, but recent months have seen me retreat more and more from the noise and aggravation of places where people congregate.

Having lurked here for the past few weeks, reading posts and seeing how supportive everyone is to each other, something I have not had much of in the outside world, I finally found enough courage to join and participate. It's a bit of a strange feeling joining a forum for support for myself as I'm usually the one providing that support to others.

I'm finding just how hard it is to be a woman, over 60, with physical and mental health issues mostly caused by the actions of others in the long distant past, with no family or friends. I'm trying my hardest to live with the knowledge that this situation isn't going to go away, while searching for better management processes to handle the stress reactions that I just can't get on top of for long enough to build up any reserves. I'm constantly on overload.

I see my GP, have seen psychologists, some helpful, some not, and use a variety of management tools to get through the day.

I'm thinking this place might offer the type of support I need right now to help me get to a better place. Thank you for being here.

Re: New here ...

@Heavenbound - thank you so very much for your welcome and your kindness in responding to my post. Lovely to meet you too!

I send you good wishes in the hope it will provide perhaps the tiniest bit of extra strength for you. One moment at a time might be all we can do.

I shop online even for my groceries now, the noise in supermarkets causes me to just disintegrate and I can't stay long enough to finish shopping. Online with deliveries has saved me so much stress. How lovely that your hubby will do all that to support you.
Look after you Heavenbound, stay well.

Hah!

I have finally figured out how to see the post I'm replying to (if I don't have that in front of me I can waffle on about all manner of things instead of what I'm intending to reply to) AND do the pretties IN the post without having to edit it to do it.

Now I'm having a cup of tea to celebrate this itsy bitsy achievement for the night!

Re: New here ...

@Heavenbound.
Just wondering. Seeing as people can overwhelm you, would you be more comfortable volunteering for something like anaanimal shelter. You'd only have minimum contact with one or two people. But your time would be spent with the animals.
Just a thought.

Re: New here ...

I'm not doing well at the moment, everything seems too heavy, very little seems to be worth the effort. I do the things I know that work for me, like keeping things neat and tidy or it just makes a bigger job taking more effort if it's left and that makes me even more cross with myself.

I don't know why I bother struggling to find a solution to the way I feel.

@Jen1561 Thank you for you kind words. It's nice to meet so many nice people here too.

My heartfelt thanks to those who have taken the time to respond to me here in any way. Such small things mean a great deal.

After a very long week of being at the lowest I think I've been for a great many years, I'm a little better today. Apologies for not being around.

Hope others are having good moments and good days.

Re: New here ...

Thank you @Former-Member how very kind of you! I just responded over in your place. I hope things are getting better for you too. (wish I had more emoticons)

Things have been up and down the last two days, lots of thoughts and lots of having to do physical stuff for the inspection tomorrow. Just out of schedule for me was really all the problem, and having someone coming into my place judging me on how they think I should live. It's spotlessly clean and there's not a thing out of place, but I don't have the type of furniture and stuff most people have.

The craft and computer places are the most important, and I don't have space, or chairs, for guests 'cos I dont' invite anyone in. She's gonna be judgy, I just know it.

I'm trying not to get too worried or I won't sleep, and if I don't sleep I'll be cranky and that might not go so well.

I did another thing today too, I wrote about it over in the Twisted Self Care thread if you want to read about it.

Re: New here ...

I shall try find it @Former-Member i get so lost of the forums here and feel i can never keep up ay! I get the exact same inspection anxiety someone coming in to judge how i live and tell me whats wrong(if anything) it can be a daunting thing to face! But i am sure it will be fine and its amazing your craft desk and computer chair are most important you should be proud of the craft space you have created for yaself for sure, she may be envious of such a space you never know! I hope you manage some sleep and that inspection goes well for you tomorrow ❤❤❤
