Lost all hope

Lost all hope

I asked my husband and in laws to help looking after my daughter so i could go and see some family for a week and i was told no they couldnt help. I explained to my husband why i needed to go (very depressed and isolated). We live in a small country town which i hate as the people here are so nasty. I have no friends and no job and we have been here 2 years. Getting away for a little while would help me feel a bit better. I am becoming aware of suicidal thoughts. I am just wondering.. everybody says reach out and tell someone to get help but what happens when you ask for help and get told no? I feel there is no other option for me as i cant see things getting better and nobody seems to give a shit. I have seen alot of health care professionals and still no help.

@Nay84. Online or phone counseling might work well for you in the country. There are more choices than just the psychologist in your area.
I wonder if you are on any medication to help with your depression? Have you seen a psychiatrist?
Did you tell hubby that you need the week - otherwise you fear you will suicide? Sometimes I think we need to say things as honestly as we can. Yes money is important - but no where near as important as your health.
There is no shame in mental illness. It is just like any other condition you need help for. It's simply the brain that is affected.
If your husband still says no - can you just go anyway?

Re: Lost all hope

Thanks @utopia i am currently on an anti depressant and a mood stabilizer too. I have just been to the dr and have increased one of them to see how we go. Had a good talk with my husband last night and we are working through some things. Ive never really used a forum before but the way people take time out of their day to help others is very reassuring that therr may be some help out there afterall. Thanks again.

Re: Lost all hope

@Nay84 - I'm so pleased you and hubby talked last night. It's so much easier living with a mental illness when you have family support.
We are a great little community here. Most of us will have experience or an understanding of what another person is going through. So it's easy to empathise and offer support.
Sometimes all we need is to know that someone understands us. That we are not alone.
I too have recently had my AD and anxiety med doses changed. Can't see any difference yet, buy it hasn't been a week yet. Fingers crossed.
Keep writing and let us know how you get on.
