Lost all hope

Lost all hope

I asked my husband and in laws to help looking after my daughter so i could go and see some family for a week and i was told no they couldnt help. I explained to my husband why i needed to go (very depressed and isolated). We live in a small country town which i hate as the people here are so nasty. I have no friends and no job and we have been here 2 years. Getting away for a little while would help me feel a bit better. I am becoming aware of suicidal thoughts. I am just wondering.. everybody says reach out and tell someone to get help but what happens when you ask for help and get told no? I feel there is no other option for me as i cant see things getting better and nobody seems to give a shit. I have seen alot of health care professionals and still no help.

Re: Lost all hope

Have you talked through your problems with a psychologist?
They might be able to help sort out mental health issues as well as issues around your living situation.

Re: Lost all hope

Yes i have but i have not found one that is helpful. Its like theyre just reading straight from their text book. Not alot of services out here either. Nobody takes it seriously. I think my husband is afraid that my mental issues will become public knowledge and is a bit embarrassed as we are living in the town he grew up in.

Re: Lost all hope

If you're in a smaller town, you can see psychologists online - you might be able to get a better one then?

I've got to go, but I think @outlander and @Former-Member are online right now - they might have other ideas to help you out?

If not @Faith-and-Hope and @Appleblossom will be on later and they are both really useful for extra ideas and other perspecitves.

Hi @Nay84

I have a hubby and 2 children so understand a bit of what you are going through. The most important person is you right now and you cannot help your daughter/husband if you don't help yourself first.

Can you sit down with your husband and explain that you are going and he is to have HIS daughter. If he refuses, can you possible take her with you. I know you need a break, but maybe the family you are going to spend time with can look after your daughter whilst you get a break. Perhaps explain to hubby that he is an equal parent in this and if he wants you to feel better, then he needs to help you.

The other thing you can look into is Suicide Call Back Service. You can get 6 sessions over the phone with the same counsellor at a designated time each week/fortnight. It might be something you can look into.

I hope this helps. But please know you are not along and we are here to support you.

Thankyou for your response. He is worried about taking time off work. I know work is important even more so now that i cant find a job and i do feel guilty about it but its either one week without me or a lifetime

Re: Lost all hope

@Nay84I can understand that he is worried about taking time off work.

I do hope that you find a solution to this. It is important that you look after yourself.

Do you do any self care at the moment?

Also, if you want to tag a specific person, just put a @ before their name and they will get a notification

Re: Lost all hope

Thankyou @Former-Member ...was wondering how that works!

Hi @Nay84 and welcome to the forums.

I agree with @Former-Member, that SCBS is a good idea. At the moment you are only seeing the two options, but there are more, and the counsellors will know how best to advise you.

Please keep in touch with us here too .... we can walk along with you as you seek answers to your situation, There are others here who feel like you do. You are not alone.
