Supporting a partner in a crisis

Supporting a partner in a crisis

hi everyone, i really don't know where else to turn, this is the first time i have bene on the carers forum, my partner is suicidal and she almost made an attempt 2 days ago, she had to change meds because of the warf strike preventing her meds comming into aus, and the ones she is on now have made her really unwell, she can't make phone calls and she is scared of police comming to her house. i have tried contacting so many people to get her into a MHU, i have talked her into going volintarily, but their is no way that i can find to get her their.

please help

Jacques

Re: Supporting a partner in a crisis

hi @outlander my dear friend,

im going ok, really struggling with sleep, im so so tired. i've only been getting 1 days decent sleep a week.

my poor partner is having a really hard day today without her daughters. wit hthe whole covid thing, it is so so hard for many people.

im trying so so hard to support her and keep her focused on our future.

i tiled my shed a few weeks back, and i did a really good job with it. i need to finish it off, so i might get onto that this week.

how are you mny friend? i hope your family enjoyed mothers day. hugs my friend. thank you so much for speaking to me.

I quite enjoy speaking with you @Jacques you can tag me anytime you like and ill be here.

im hearing you on the sleep. im only sleeping around 3 hours a night atm sometimes that's a stretch. its exhausting isn't it!

im sorry your partner hasn't bene able to see the kids though. im sure there will be a much welcomed reunion when restrictions start to lift. In nsw we are allowed up to 5 people in the house as of this coming Friday. im not sure on which state your in though, so it could be very different.

oh your very clever with the tiling, im not too good with handy work sorts of stuff.

mum liked her presents though I didn't see her. ill see her tomorrow at some point though.
im a little stressed and waiting for some more clarification on my ct scans that are marked my the radiologist that its suggested I get an urgent mri so abit scared. ive been quite unwell but have been taking it easy as much as possible. have been trying to arrange some supports for my grandad as well so that I can rest a little more while knowing he will still be cared for while im resting.

Re: Supporting a partner in a crisis

thank you @outlander your a great friend.

yeah sleep is just not happening, but i am coping with little sleep. so im ok with that for now.

im trying to do good sleep hygiene, which is hard for me being a computer geek 🙂

yes, i think things will start to ease in all states soon, my partner just got told today her dog is dying, she is devistated, it has been with her a long time. i have tried all day to comfort her. i know how painful losing a pet can be, she was told he has 6 moths to live.

yes, i am happy wit hthe results of the tiling. i was never good at handy work either, but i started teaching myself and i know even if i fail i at least tried.

im so so sorry to hear you are so unwell. MRI's are really scary especially if you have clostrphobia. the machines are very closed in to get the scans properly. my partner is having a MRI on thursday about her knee. gentle hugs my friend, im so glad you are taking it easy.

there is a lot of respite - at home care now. if you look up on google you will find services in your area.

thinking of you, please take care.

Jacques

yes lack of sleep does have n impact with our health , i usually get up 4 times a night to go to the bathroom
