Doing the linky thing

Doing the linky thing

Hey @Adge,

You were asking how to insert links into posts. If you just want to share the link to a website like you did on the DBT thread, what you did was fine - i.e. copy and paste the link into the body of the post. However, if you want to create a link to another part of Forum Land I can tell you what I do, although I'm wondering if there are shortcuts that other people might know??? Anyway, here's what I do on my laptop:

  • Open a new tab in internet explorer.
  • Search Forum Land for the thread I am looking for and click on it.
  • "Copy" the address of the thread.
  • Go back to the tab where I am composing my post.
  • Click on the link icon, (which is next to the smiley face)
  • Paste the URL of the link where it says URL
  • Delete the URL from the "text to appear" space and type in either the name of the thread or "here"
  • Click ok.

And in theory, it should end up looking like this: Let's do DBT (hey look @CheerBear I am subliminally advertising the DBT thread again ).

I hope this helps @Adge. I will be super interested to hear if there is a quicker way to do this because it kind-of takes a lot of steps.

Yes that seems like a good "how to do it manual" @Phoenix_Rising

I shall have to try it sometime. So far I only did it via concerted effort, & sheer luck.

That wasn't even a link to another thread (on site), just a link to a self-help website.

Re: Doing the linky thing

I do it the same way @Phoenix_Rising except I found that if you write the name of the "text to appear" first, then copy the url in the url space, you don't have to delete the url from the text to appear space, taking one less step 🙂
