Hi @eudemonism
Sorry for the late reply, I had signed off my shift before seeing your post.
I've worked with many clients totally frustrated with the mental health system. I work in the Partners in Recovery (PIR) Program, do you have the service in your area. A major part of our role is to advocate for our clients especially in relation to their treatment and medications.

Re: The mental health system explained
Are you not wanting to connect with the mental health care system anymore?
Will you be able to manage / live life without meds, counseling, care etc?
Are you saying that because you have dealt with the causes of your MI, that you no longer have a MI, or is it that because you have dealt with that trauma that you can look after yourself, without help.
Sorry, I'm confused a bit about what you are saying.

Re: The mental health system explained
hello @eudemonism @utopia @SleepyPanda @Former-Member @Bunniekins
I have not personally experienced what you describe eudemonism...
I have witnessed others on the types of medication that you describe...
I have seen the change in my son when involuntarily given the injection depot whilst detained for several weeks and then on cto..
Everything that you feel and have felt over the years is real and you have every right to feel every emotion that you are feeling...
You also have the right to request a change in your medication rather than putting up with it which seems to exasperate your situation so much..
@SleepyPandais giving you some advice of her experience with others who felt strongly like you do..
I get that you are over the whole medical system after feeling let down over and over..
that part feeling let down by the medical system over and over for myself and my missing son I feel strongly about to..
I refused to see the medical people who disrepected or dismissed me and continued to search for new ones...yes is exhausting...yes I wanted to give up...I finally now have a very good psychotherapist after having some dreadful ones....I see a psychologist with whom I am starting to trust slightly once a month...and I have a beautiful young gp ...also recently found ...
they are out there as others are saying here...
the hardest part of our illness I feel personally for myself is I have to work so hard for everything to come together and help me....the moment that I get low the help there does not seem as strong...
that is purely my perception...my past experiences...my patterned thinking..
I have recently been referred to a neurosurgeon and will be admitted to hospital for an operation as soon as MRI results are available. Major surgery on my spine basically having to cut me open to remove a tumour...sorry re gory information...I am struggling so hard with this diagnosis but more so the type of surgery required...Guess what....I have only met this surgeon once ..who like most surgeons has no facial expression....no personality...speaks very little...
I ask a thousand questions...my body...I need to know what...why...how and eventually when...
I have been going through the process and still am of being angry..anxious..etc because I do not know this man....I need to have trust...medical systems have let me down so often..
I have realised that I have two options...trust him and go ahead with whatever he advises...or not trust him and walk away...tumour growing rapidly so well ...my choice is to have the operation..
you have more options ...you can find a new psychiatrist and a new gp...you can accept help in going through that daunting..draining exercise...you can ask to be listened to and explain what you have written on here ..this site many times...your situation is like a dog chasing it's tale and you are exasperated...why wouldn't you be..
so will you take charge of your situation now and accept some help..ring sane and ask to speak to @SleepyPanda who will explain further..
You can do this @eudemonism ...you have so much that you want to do in life ....you have picked yourself up in your moods before....I believe that this is an opportunity for you for change..
I am sorry if I sound too domineering or blatant...I just know that you have so much potential...so stuff the part of the system that is not working for you ....make the call..
your friend moh

Re: The mental health system explained
Unfortunately your experience with this surgeon is a very common one. I've found surgeons are so focused on the mechanics of surgery, and have little patience for patients and their questions. They are a breed unto themselves.
@eudemonism - keep fighting for your rights. I know it is hard, especially when you have been let down so spectacularly in the past. But you deserve to be heard. You deserve and have the rights to have a say in your treatment. Andyou ddeserve to be treated as a human being.
So keep fighting.
