Re: rough time

hi @Owlunar
just bring the convo over to here.
the pcos is permanent but its abit more managed since a procedure I had so far.
the surgery from my teeth- the nerves may be permanently damaged and also I have a joint and muscle disorder in my jaw that is also permanent as well which so its quite tough and very painful.

so far we are safe from fires but we have 2 major ones burning within 70ks of us so its quite scary atm.

Re: rough time

Having fires that close must be scary @outlander

I have had the TV on all day - listening to the reports and updates as they come in - the situation is constantly changing - I know you will do your best to keep safe

It seems the breeze is from the SW here and feels cooler but that might be wishful thinking - actually to me the whole thing feels apocalyptic - I have known fires before but never like this

I am so sorry you have this pain in your jaw and your teeth - that is not something you can just put aside - it can be extremely discreet pain too - it's exhausting

What can I say about that - I like to be encouraging but I also know about pain and how it wears us down - I will be thinking of you

Re: rough time

yeah the fires are so unpredictable @Owlunar one has been downgraded back to advice but ones been upgraded to watch and act however I took a look and its spreading more north westerly rather then east thankfully.

its currently 35 here but expected to reach 43, im hoping it mightn't get that hot though as we are almost at the hottest part of the day.
the pain in my jaw is overwhelming. not only is is painful yet numb, burning, and tingly it also affects my speech (so I slur my words sometimes or the words sound different to what they should be-like a lisp) it is also sometimes visible where half of my jaw swells abit and looks like only the good side works (so when I smile only the good side really smiles) and my diets changed a lot. I can barely eat chicken schnitzels now as its a lot of chewing and can no longer eat things like kebabs, hamburgers, not even cheeseburgers. to eat them I have to use a k--nife and fork or break it into smaller pieces to chew and open my mouth enough for. I cant even drink out of a straw or use like drink bottles that actually require you to suck rather then being able to squeeze and the water just comes out. its affecting a lot of me not just the pain side unfortunately.

the dentist said I might need a mouthguard for nights and sometimes through the day but it costs 500 or more to get so I don't think so and ive heard most people who get them end up in more pain or they are just to uncomfortable to wear for them to manage. my jaw isn't properly aligned so im contanstantly getting pain and ulcers and things from biting the inside of my mouth or even hitting some of the newly closed gumline from the extractions.

Re: rough time

Sheesh yes @outlander

I understand a lot of what you are saying - I had a really bad bite and tried a bite plate for a while but I know they might work or not - I actually chewed my way through the plastic and hah - I love my stories - I used to keep it in a cup of water on the vanity unit in my bathroom and I saw the cat drinking the water out of the cup when my bite plate was in it and never used the bite plate again

I guess I had to put up with the bad bite because my parents never remotely considered braces - it didn't happen often when I was young - my crooked teeth didn't bother me cosmetically but of course the bad bite is a mechanical problem and I have lost a lot of those teeth from big fillings and bad bite and I still lisp - I am used to that as past of myself but I still notice that - and yes - it is annoying having people mention it

It seems to me that your teeth and jaw etc was set up like mine to be a problem - it's really tough - one thing I can assure you that the pain I had for while did eventually ease. I have a very kind and understanding dentist who told me I copped the works when it came to a mouthful of awkward teeth - we might have this in common - if it helps at all

I had my 6yo molars out when I was 11 so my wisdom teeth came through when I was 15 without any trouble so that was good - I still have enough teeth left to hold partial dentures and since I have had these it's a chore fussing with them to keep them extra clean but actually my mouth is more comfortable - which might or might not have happened over time

The change has hit Melbourne - it's cloudy and gusty outside - not a strong wind yet - but the air feels better

All the best where you are Outlander
