rough time

I've just had a lengthy discussion with the emergency vet. The ultrasound shows something in his lower intestines that's not moving. His intestines are also very dilated meaning that nothing is getting through & they are getting inflammed which could lead to infection or rupture potentially in the next few days. They won't offer a payment plan because they are an emergency vet service & they do not know the customers they are dealing with. They've also been burnt before. It's likely too that the Tafe clinic will not be able to perform such complicated surgery. So my only other option is to find a vet service in the morning that can do the surgery & it will cost less. The problem is that being a Saturday many clinics are only open until midday, and they're often fully booked. I can't see myself sleeping tonight, and I don't want to take a sleeping tablet unless they need to call me. This has turned into a nightmare.

Thanks @Snowie. I wish this wasn't based around money but unfortunately it has to be. I would be utterly devastated if my delaying his treatment took his life. But there is a risk too that he may not survive the surgery depending on what they find.

It is definently a nightmare and im a little dissapointed in the vet not being able to offer something more financial wise. Its a place many people would be stuck with too.
Maybe as they would be keeping him comfortable he would be ok overnight to give you a chance to find another vet?

The vet I spoke to is really nice @outlander @Snowie and she has suggested a clinic a long way from my place (so she is trying to help me out). I've been checking out other vet clinics closer to home and I'll call them in the morning to see if they can help.

I don't hold any angst that they can't help financially. Yes it's dissapointing but unfortunately defaulters before now have made it difficult for others. There is a financial assistance service for vet bills however I have a poor credit rating & I'm unemployed so I won't qualify. Whatever way I turn is near impossible.
