Hi @LadyK
How horrible that this is happening to you and your son - even worse whilst recovering from surgery! Have you tried ringing your local refuges and/or shelters? You can google these in your state for phone numbers. They should be able to arrange temporary accommodation until something more permanent is worked out. That would be the first step. Please don't hesitate to ring Lifeline or similar if you need to.
I so hope you find somewhere soon to stay and are safe. Please let us know how you get on.

Hi there @LadyK and welcome to the SANE forums. Well done for reaching out to the community. We have some members who are very knowledgeable and I'm sure will be able to offer some advice.
@Former-Member has already given some great advice about contacting refuges/shelters in your state. I would also suggest contacting a social worker (perhaps through a neighbourhood centre or even Centrelink). Social workers will be already linked in with services appropriate for you and will be able to act on your behalf in order to get a stable roof over your head (especially with your son and recent spinal surgery). A good social worker is worth their weight in gold, I know this because I've also experienced homelessness in the past and was to secure permanent affordable housing via a social worker referral to a community housing organisation.
I wish you all the very best in securing a new place to live.

Hi @LadyK - I was reading a long post earlier today by a middle-aged woman in the US who has been living in her car for a long time. She sounded very smart and hard-working. I was counting my blessings big-time after that.
I really hope you get the help you need! 😔

Maybe you dont have access to net.
Hope you and your son got through New Year alright.
Homelessness is no joke. Nor spinal surgery.
Please take care and approach Lifeline, Anglicare
or council or other agencies.
