Antisocial + schizophrenia + anxiety

Antisocial + schizophrenia + anxiety

I wish I could blame being antisocial on the schizophrenia or non stop anxiety but I have always been very anti social and really have no people skills any more. It is completely destroying chances of employment and personal relationships. I don't even know where to begin on trying to be more social but I feel I need to try and change this.

When I'm around people, voices in my head get much louder and anxiety reaches to the point of feeling sick..

I don't even know why I'm writing this now but I guess I just wanted to actually write what I'm thinking.

I have lost all my friends and most days I spend them alone in my house, and I'm content with that.. But yet I hate it that I'm content with being alone.

i guess I just miss interacting with people every so often. Anyway I'm going to stop writing now, I don't know what I have gained from writing this but oh well

hello @Queenie

how are you at the moment?

I am hoping that you are sweeping past the rubbish at this time of year in your royal gown..

if you have the strength would you mind just passing by and leaving some thoughts with Zam...

Zam is struggling at present...I thought that we might carry some of his load for a while..

if you can think of others also...Zam has said he does not mind invitations to others..

take care queenie

Re: Antisocial + schizophrenia + anxiety

@Zam Zam I was thinking if you will be around on Christmas day and feeling a bit blue I will be here and I know BambiFawn will be too plus many others. I would love the company if you had nothing on 😄

Re: Antisocial + schizophrenia + anxiety

Hi Zam, my son (mid-20's, Sz) is also socially isolated and at home, though has company (me + dog). He does interact with people online, mostly through games (PS4 and PC) and hobby forums. Sometimes he gets very involved and other times he avoids it completely. You're on this forum, are you on other forums or perhaps interested in hobbies or games?

Re: Antisocial + schizophrenia + anxiety

Hi there @Zam, please bear with me as I am replying via phone to your post. Thanks @Former-Member for tagging me!
I've been diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder, a combination of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. Before diagnosis and before any signs of ill mental health, I was a bit of a social butterfly really. I was always socially engaging and lots of friends and was surrounded by them. Fast forward eleven years and I'm pretty much a social leper. As much as I enjoyed parties and socialising, It seems nobody wants to hang out with someone who clearly isn't comfortable in their own skin.
My psychiatrist says my behaviours which lead me to be a social pariah and he has even said there will be more of a decline.

These behaviours include putting headphones on all the time in an attempt to drown out the voices I hear (which are always derogatory). I also can be distant towards people. I also get wreaked with anxiety to the point of vomiting when I'm in new places that I'm unprepared for.
That's a key word for me actually, preparation. I take oodles of preparation to do almost anything otherwise there's a very good chance that I'll chicken out.

I can definitely hear what you're saying and can definitely relate.
