Rage and Phobias

Hi everyone

I am sure I am not alone with this but I have a BIG phobia regarding the police. They terrify me and not only that when I am terrified I get angry a deep anger that I have never experienced before. I presume it has to do with my Bipolartype1 and schizoaffective disorder.

Does anyone else experience that same kind of rage ... I am a very placid greenpea as you all are aware but this is a problem. Next appointment with Dr G is in second week of January and I have already upped my mood stabilizers myself in anticpation of that appointment.

So anyone experiencing the same? Would love to know.

Hi @Bunniekins - has something happened in the past to give you a fear of the police? You don't have to elaborate if you're not comfortable. I won't go into details but I've had some unpleasant experiences and a lot of us have problems with authority figures and sometimes our fears can be justified. It's definitely something you should discuss with your doc abouIt how you can manage it - they might have some suggestions for you and some therapy that could help. You're definitely not alone with your feelings on this...take care.

@Former-Member Thanks dugga yes things have happened in the past ... hearing that I am not alone with this helps alot. I will definately talk to my doc about it at my next appointment. I was/is terrified about driving during the holiday period with extra cops on the road ... to be pulled over for a random test ... could freak me out.

Anyway Sane helpline came up with a few stratergies thta might help so cross fingers.
