@utopia and @Phoenix_Rising thanks, I went to the Dr almost first thing this morning and the wait was about an hour. Certainly better than 3, and it seems all sorted out now. As I suspected it was a need-special-equipment-but-quick-fix thing.
I'm still with my family for another week. Had to provide an updated interstate address to the Dr reception. It was pretty funny, but they're lucky they only had 1 address change to deal with. Almost every time I've visited my normal doctor back home I've had to update the address, and they don't even have my current address now.
