Re: Christian Chat

@DownMoreThanUp this is the song that introduced me too! I agree, it IS the best.

My goal for each day is to wake up praising God, something I used to do but have become overwhelmed and not done it. So it's time to thank God for what He hasn't given me,more than what He has if that makes sense.

Happy Monday my dear brother, you are a true blessing and I know God is proud of your commitment to Him.

Re: Christian Chat

@heartathome Yes i fully understand that.

i found that the issue with me was doubting Jesus'/God's/my wife's/my children's love for me all the time, and in particular when depressed. However Jesus showed me that it was always me not loving me, not ever Him, or others not loving me (any longer.) When i saw how hard it was for me to believe Jesus loved me, i realised how strong not loving me was inside of me.(This i traced back to my childhood. Where i had not felt loved or wanted by either parent and internalised that. Once i got over the forgiving all of that bit, especially myself, love began to flow much more freely again, and has been so in increasing measure. (Cultivate My love and My love will ALWAYS be, Jesus explained to me heeding loveless thoughts and feelings. It was so very good to see this been VERY true over the years that followed!)

Not feeling loved proved to be a very hard enemy to beat my dear sister, and only surrendering myself in my failures to Jesus assured me of His Victory not being good at it being without love, no matter how hard i tried loving myself, trying to do the right thing, only God's love loved me for real.

So please do remember that when those loveless feelings or thoughts attack/accuse/belittle you within, to remember that THAT is the enemy trying to sow the bad seed in your heart about you (or the other person,) it are those very loveless thoughts and feelings making so much noise that are the trouble,😡 not you.😱

Righteous Love

Righteous Love lays down own life
for those fallen so low and sore
ignoring painful deep down low
True Love gathers the broken
those who succumbed to lies
awaiting death to take them.

For never may The Wicked win
God's Children to devour like bread
True Love leaves death behind
Loving True all the way back up
till Loving True is Safely Home
taking along All The Chosen.

i know it has helped me enormously fighting my low self esteem learning to remember that.😀

Mark's testimony is very much like my own accepting God's love. For i feared God when it came to Him loving me for i did not have the love to love me nit because He didn't love me.

See what you think.

Re: Christian Chat

I agree with you that it is not from God! I think it's a process, at least for me. I'm learning to change that inner talk. I believe God is helping with that. I used to hate myself but now I can look in the mirror and tell myself that I'm okay! Big difference for me.

I could only watch ten minutes of the clip. That's all my attention span would allow! I did read around it in the Bible and highlighted it. Thank you for sharing @DownMoreThanUp 💛

Re: Christian Chat

@heartathome Yes i know how debilitating such a reality can be. i had it for years anti-psychotics made it very much worse. i was told it was a symptom of being depressed.

And i know depression influencess for the deeper the depression the less input i can handle. In the end i stop any input, only Scripture then. For processing information becomes so hard down there.

(i found that Mark has lots of good videos on mental health issues from a godly perspective, and i also resonate with. His videos on O.C.D, depression, and now also on trauma are very good. My wife found him struggling to understand me and seeking understanding of mental illness from a biblical model not just a medical one.)

Encouraged to know you are getting counselling about this. The love of God is awesome. And where you feel so bad about yourself now you will meet Jesus when He raises you anew in His Kingdom.

i once wrote a poem about this. (i'll put it in a trigger though it is rather graphic, but deals with me feeling so bad about myself in my low self - esteem. (True story by the Way))

i called it 'The Beggar Of My Existence.' For i had surely been overcome by the bad life others had forced upon me for many years before the faith of Jesus brought me His New.

Content/trigger warning

The Beggar Of My Existence

Begging I lay beside the road, unable to get-up or move on.
Paralysed after a viscous assault when I was just a little kid
bloodied I stared at my wretched existence for many years.
Hope had gone, pain throbbing, hungry and thirsty, cold and alone,
the inner demons dragging me deeper and deeper down the drain,
helpless the wicked abused my life, robbing me of all my possessions.

Most of my life I lay there beside the road alone
I don't know how I survived my miserable existence,
by-passers often bashed me, blaming me for their hate.
At first I was raped night after night for years,
lately mainly tortured for cruel fun and cheap thrills,
oh yes, those wicked ones have been hurting me!

Not often have peels been part of my diet,
weeds, grass, rotten fruit and insects,
that's what I ate, such meagre meals.
I was skin over bones and smelled like sewage.
Walking dead, longing for an early ending.
I didn't feel worthy to carry the name human.

Suddenly I became aware of a pleasant aroma,
a beautifully perfumed visitor, a rich stranger,
he knelt beside beside me and took hold of me
I thought, maybe he'll give me something worthwhile,
I'd better ask quickly before he goes on his way,
normally the rich don't ever stop to talk to me!

Facing the visitor I croaked through parched lips,
please? I am unable to move and very hungry,
my last visitor abused me and I'm hurting bad,
could you spare me some food or money,
a sip of water, I'm so thirsty right now?
Expectantly I looked up into the man's eyes.

Chewing delicious bread I stared at the stranger,
the young wine had refreshed me completely
where did all this come from I wonder?
My taste-buds were in Heaven and so was I
I couldn't believe what I was hearing
I remember his lips pronounce the words;

"Shalom... Beloved...

..You're most welcome, my child," he said,
"Eat your fill, here, have another sip of wine,
your clothes are all worn, dirty and broken.
At home I have some new clean garments your size,
a warm bath and a place of safety and rest,
awaiting my dwelling-place high-up New Eden street."

That's what he said, and that's what he did for me!
Amazed I watched as out of nowhere servants arrived,
gently lifting me out of my grime and of the street,
carrying me along an all together different route,
right to the top of a most beautiful mountain hill,
halting before a mansion I didn't know could exist.

A doctor came and tended my wounds and sores
ointments soothing, smelling like fragrant herbs
a massage, gently, carefully rejuvenating me.
Years long ache disappearing, well-being arriving,
heaven on earth how could all this be for me,
when did I do anything to deserve this treatment?

A gentle knock on my door, as I lay sleeping
in a massive bedroom, adorned for royalty.
"You've been invited at The Feast tonight."
I recall this loving moment fleetingly pass by,
how lovely he looked standing there,
"and Dad said he likes to meet you as well."

I remember how confused I had been, Dad?
A party tonight, seeing Dad, who and what else?
Why is he looking after me so fantastically well?
My mind was in turmoil after all these events,
several hours ago I still lay dying in my filth,
and now..? now I was so alive and so fulfilled!

Gratitude arose like paradise restored within,
never before did I feel so much thankfulness,
I'd been rescued from a life of painful misery,
saved from the wretchedness of my existence,
restored to human dignity, loved and cared for,
deep down I knew Life had found me for good.

Re: Christian Chat

@DownMoreThanUp that tree is beautiful. Most days I am happy for God to decide when He wants me to go home. I just need to find my purpose - listen to Him more carefully and obey.

@ENKELI Yes i fully relate how you feel about that. Yet in the end it was to stop trying to do things to make things be, apart of simply believing He done it, and He will do it! For in the end i realised that i tried all my life, so very hard and it had never been good enough,😨 yet when i trusted and believed in Jesus when i was in great need He had always been right with me, and instantly, without me having to do anything more than have faith in His love/goodness over me.

So please let you hardest efforts not be you unwittingly standing in front of Him blocking His Way, for i know it has often been like that for me.🤗

Re: Christian Chat

Hi @heartathome , @DownMoreThanUp , @Appleblossom , @ENKELI ,

Luke 24

- Early dawn, the first day of the week, the women return to the tomb.

- Stone rolled back and no body!

- Two men in dazzling clothes: "He has risen!" Remember what he told you.

- The women tell the eleven.

- Peter runs to the tomb. Wonders what happened.

- Jesus is not recognised as He walks with two of them. Tells them it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to enter into His glory.

- "And beginning from Moses, and from all the prophets, He explained to them the things about Himself in all the Scriptures."

- Jesus recognised when He breaks the bread. Then He vanishes.

- The two race back to Jerusalem to tell the others.

- Jesus appears. "Peace unto you!"

- Jesus shows them His hands and feet.

- Jesus eats.

- "Then He opened their understanding that they might understand the Scriptures ... necessary that the Christ should suffer, and rise ... third day, and that repentance and remission should be preached in His Name, to all the nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

- You are witnesses.

- "Behold I send the promise of My Father upon you (the Holy Spirit).

- Jesus carried up into Heaven.

- And after they had worshipped Him, they returned to Jerusalem with great joy, and were continually in the Temple, preaching and blessing God.

The last bit jumped out at me. "They returned to Jerusalem with great joy." Jesus has ascended to Heaven. Even though He is not walking with the disciples on earth anymore they are not mourning Him. The joy of a risen Saviour! It suggests to me the joy of walking with the Holy Spirit is the same, if not greater than, the joy the disciples had of walking with Jesus on earth. God's fulfilled plan is more powerful.

Thanks @Realness

I've been reading along with you. Seeing what you write interests me to have a look in my own Bible! This is what stood out to me today

Jesus calls the two men, walking to Emmaus, foolish. (Verse 25) BUT then He takes the time with them to explain all the Scriptures about Himself. (Verse 27)

Also, Verse 52 where after worshipping Jesus, the disciples were filled with great joy. One day I will feel what I imagine will be great joy!

Re: Christian Chat

@heartathome @Realness So good discussing God's goodness in Christ.

For i know great Joy comes when i finally let go of all that hinders Him for being revealed in His fullness to me. For i had to let go of all the bad life/lies/ hurting me and forgive those, including myself, for having brought bad life into my reality/being. Such can be hard to do, but this does increase the Joy when He comes.

The good part is He ascended into Heaven, so we know for sure we WILL also rule over our lives in and with Him, instead of continually being ruled by bad life, the Day(s) He is revealed within as our lives us letting go of the old.

Letting go of the old can be very hard to do when we have been hurt badly. Yet His reward will be the greater when we do.

Have a blessed day.

Revelation 19:1-10 speaks about living this Joy in great detail. i know such Joy increasingly comes true in our daily walk with Jesus, rather than in one moment, as some have us believe.
