I spent Christmas lunch with the family of a christian pastor and went to his church. They are a lovely family and not at all well to do, but very classy in their way. The dad embodies christian values and inclusion in a lovely earthy Queenslander Aussie blokey manner. The mum does the church organist thing that I grew up with, passing it down through the women. My daughter played flute for services but now she is an atheist. I just have to love my children no matter what. My journey in last few years is to separate biological family and kinship issues and connections.

When a lady said to me that christmas equal food ... I could disagree and say ... its far more than that.

But I believe we must be careful not just to have relationships which are like a mutual admiration society ... tho it is a good start!

Thank you @Former-Member I am glad you did not feel too isolated. We have a "fur family" but it is our old stuffed toys from when kids were young.

I believe we are often attracted to different beings and that it is not ALL about sexuality or mating or having children.

My style of Christianity is a bit unusual but it goes very deep. It is very inclusive.

I like that you mentioned about the debating. I was not strict about much, except for love and food, education, good activities and holidays. The father and I encouraged my children to think independently and debating was seen as a positive thing, but you are right it can be divisive, if not managed well.

@Bubbles3Sorry things are tense atm. I cannot believe how hard parenting is these days. Everything seems extra complicated. Look after you as well as kids and birds.
