Let's make Christmas fun

Good morning Forum Land,
Just in case you didn't know, it is two weeks until Christmas. I'm super excited!!! Christmas can be SUCH a hard time of the year. As many of you know, I have no family or friends, and consequently I will be spending Christmas day alone, just like I spend every other day of the year alone. However, this will be the twentieth Christmas that I have spent by myself and I kind-of have the hang of it now. It used to be excruciating, but over the years I have developed my own way of navigating the day. I have created family Christmas traditions...just without the family bit.

To all those Forumites who superly duperly struggle with Christmas, I get it. I really do. For many years it was a truly horrendous time of the year for me. But now I've learnt to make it a fun time in my own quirky way.

This is my first Christmas in Forum Land and I am super looking forward to counting down the days to Christmas here. I totally understand that this thread will not suit everyone. There are threads here and here, which focus on the challenging aspects of this time of year. My hope is that this thread can be a space where those of us who want to enjoy the fun parts of Christmas can do so. Christmas can be oh-so-hard...but despite my muddles and my social isolation, I choose to make Christmas fun. I superly duperly hope you will join me.

Good morning to everyone.

I am grateful I had a good Christmas. its been a long time. My boyfriend spoiled me. His family spoiled me. It was so much fun at his parents house. We played the Christmas game 4 times with differnt people bringing gifts for 10 people and we did the go around. His mom makes a wonderful breakfast first thing and then we go for the tree which is overwhelming. I felt so loved and I felt I belonged. I've always wanted tgo be included in a big family. I feel blessed for that day. I just had to share what my boyfriend bought me and I was amazed how he payed attention to what I liked. He bought me Gabrille from Chanel the new perfume which was expensive, gift certicate to Ross, earrings I mentioned I liked, nice slippers, nice neck warmer and it vibrates, sonic hedge hog game and I'm sure others things I missed. I know it's not about the gifts but it was nice to be spoiled.

However I am back in my depression again. I hate hate depression. I refuse to be depressed today. I'm getting out and living life today. Haven't showered or washed my hair for several days. This is due to depression. I want to thrive and live again but I don't have it in me. So I'm taking baby steps.

My plan for the day is meditae, go to Ross, Michaels and maybe macys from the gift certificates I have recieved. Taking my dog for a walk. Meditate and go to my ACA meeging tonighgt.

I heed to find something to live for. Thanks for listening.

So glad you had a happy and peaceful Christmas.

As for the depression, baby steps, always baby steps. It's good to see you've got some plans for the day.
