Emotional overload episode

Emotional overload episode

On Wednesday found out by logging into the NDIS website I only have 3 hours left (probably less now) of Support Coordination (had a total of about 40hours when I started in August) where as when I had a meeting wioth Support Coordinator on the 30 Nov she told me I had 15 hours left. In the time I have had Support Coordination she has not put any new services in place as required and promised told me I can use NDIS funding on Physiotherapy which NDIS has told the both of us I cant but still sends emails regarding this.

So I blew up as she is supposed to put in extra supports in for me over Christmas and I doubt she will even though she stated in email to me and my supports she will.

So wrote a few emails (undiplomatically) rand NDIS up found out the support coordinator is apparently flagged for an audit internally by NDIS themselfs as they dont know how the support coordinator spent the funding which NDIS decided themselfs to do before I contacted them.

Thursday I went to the MHOT group I was made to attend to by MHOT due to it being about Christmas Dilemas last 5 mins and couldn't cope (due to the other participants talking about family and stuff which I have none of) so was told by the Group OT to sit in waiting room receptionist but me into the Group OT's office to calm down and told me she would get the group OT to speak which the Group OT when he came back just got me out of his office and stated I was not his issue see my MHOT in 2 weeks.

Left the office looked around the city for about an hour or so as I had 2hrs between then and having to go back to see my Mental Health Nurse Practitioner when I got back to the office I asked nicely to the receptionist to cancel next weeks group as it was a major trigger for me, my MH OT overheard this and took me aside to another room and tried to talk to me but I completely lost all control over my emotions and vocal range/tone (which I do not have much control over as I dont notice it when emotional or stressed) the psychiatrist that owns the rooms came in and started threatening me stating next time I am emotional he will ban me from the premises is going to refuse to allow me to see the recoomended psychiatrist which I have an appointment for in February as well as fire my Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and sue my old psychologist tried to state I could not control this and dont know what is going on to the threatening Psychiatrist and he just stated a few times I don't know you and I don't care. Thing is I have a service agreement for 2x OT groups per week to attend and 1 hour per fortnight with MHOT until they close just before Christmas.

My MHOT thinks its just a tantrum but I had no control over my emotions and have no other Mental health supports as the public sector refuses to help me.

I have no idea what is causing it as it is unusual not sure if it is the combination of stress/ depression and the anti depressant (as wasn't this bad when I briely took myself off it for about a month) (even though second time it has happend in this practise in the last 2-3 months as even my mental health nurse practitioner is concerned as he has never seen this from me in the 5 years I have been with him except last time it happened 2-3 months ago,

I have tried to hospitalise myself to get help tried going to Community mental health, life line, beyond blue, no one wants to help me.

Hi @sjpersonal. I read your post and felt so frustrated because it seems like you're trying really hard to find something that will help you at the moment, but it isn't happening for you.

I've had no experience with the NDIS but I have heard of a number of people who've experienced lots of frustration, confusion and misunderstandings while working their way through it all. I know from my own experience how scary and overwhelming things can feel when I've tried to find support and it feels as if there's no-one out there. Is there a central psych access in your area you can contact if you feel you need hospital? Where I am we have a psych triage line who you can contact and who will refer you to crisis support if needed.

Do you have a GP you find helpful? That might another option to try if you haven't already.

Hoping today has been a little better for you.

Re: Emotional overload episode

According to my GP today he recons it reduced the depression but increased agitation so took me off the anti deppressant and put me on St Johns wart and fish oil (Luckily my local chemist refused to sell me the st johns wart as could have made me worse as need to wait a week for anti depressant to exit my system.

Re: Emotional overload episode

@sjpersonal. Wow. What a really tough day you had.
I still find it amazing when psychiatrists and mental health staff still call this a tantrum, like you were a 2 year old & not a breakdown or being unable to control your voice etc. That must have been hard to hear.
Unfortunately gps aren't great with regards to medication for mental health. So it's good to hear you have an appointment early next year to see a psychiatrist. The psychiatrist should be able to diagnose you and prescribe the right sort of medication and therapy that will help you.
Keep your chin up. You sound like someone who fights for their rights. Stay strong.
