Re: Support for me

Hi @Herbie and welcome to the Sane Forums.

Sorry to read your sad news and everyone needs support and "checking in" at such a time.

You will get support here on the forums when you engage in chats with other members. We've all lost someone close to us, and grief is something you just muddle through as best you can. Make sure you think about your self care: what strengthens and refreshes you as opposed to what drains you. It can be different things for everyone. What can you do to improve your self care right now?

Take a look around some other threads and you can introduce yourself here and tell us a bit more of your story. Pls have a read of the forum guidelines here which are inplace to ensure this is a safe, supportive forum and to protect people's privacy.

I look forward to reading your posts.

Kind regards,

Frog

Re: Support for me

Hi @Herbie. I went to reply to your intro yesterday but it went missing (I think it was yours?). I hope you're ok enough.

Sorry to hear about your father-in-law. It would be very hard to be supporting others but lacking support yourself.

I think I remember you mentioning yesterday that you struggle at night. I'll post some links in a moment (have to get off the app to do that) to some threads you might find people to chat with. It can be difficult to jump in and start chatting with others sometimes, but there are many understanding people around if you do.

What kinds of things do you enjoy doing or you find feel good for you? It can be so hard to make time to do those things when life feels busy or overwhelming, but during times like this, looking after ourselves as much as we can is important.

Hope to see you around some more.

Edit- here are some threads you might find are places to start connecting with others:

The good morning thread found here (there are often people around at all times of the day and night)

Night Shift thread here

A general chat thread found here

Re: Support for me

A good thing to do when your feeling helpless is not to feel guilty about the self help activities you do for yourself like if you want to distract yourself from sad thoughts it doesn't matter how small the activity is, spend time doing them even a little sleep late morning late afternoon can help you to feel more positive sorry to hear of your relative passing away bye for now
