Lonely son

Lonely son

Hi my son is now in his late 30's he has travelled the road of depression, heroin addiction, all kinds of legal and illegal drugs. He phones me crying telling me he has been rushed to hospital by ambulance, that he is in agony and he thinks it is a Brain tumour, or MS or something else. He has a list!. The physc team see him, he has MRI and ct scan, when I ask what the results are I am told by him that his DR is away for a month. I deep down know he is Delusional but I alswo wonder what if it is true? He even demanded his partner get a DNA test for their son (age 7) it came back 100% his.

Last night he phoned me crying because he is so lonely and has no one, "no one that I can trust" he said . I said "And why do you think that is"? no reply ! I spent 30 minutes on the phone, offering to pay his way from another State to come and spend 3 days on our farm, to relax". He refuses to get treatment or a diagnosis. After a phone call like that, today I feel like I have been 'through the wringer" whatever that might feel like. Just having a bit of a rant.... its tough.

Re: Lonely son

Hello @oddity

That sounds incredibly tough, I can't imagine how concerned you are for him and trying your best to encourage him to seek treatment and support for his mental health, that must really be burning you out, so it is good that you are getting some support through the forums.

There are some other members with children experiencing mental health issues, it might help to also read through their experiences if you have time, @Bandit1 has a great thread called 'Caring for adult son with PTSD depression and anxiety'.

There is also a great thread by @Nestles called 'Getting help for my son' and @Snowdrop has a great thread called 'My son his 10 years of depression anxiety stress and me'.

I hope they help a little bit, please keep venting here too okay

Lunar 🙂
