Re: I dont know how much longer i can go on like this
so it all really comes abck to that scheduling again? most shops for horses shut around 6ish so maybe i should make 630 the cut off time and then reanswer again at 9ish so its a 9-6 job even when im not exactly at the work spots. and the days im off are the days im off and dont respond at all on those days.
yes that one will be the hardest one as i still need to be around my own horse even on my days off or on the off chance i decide to go twice a day. thats prob the hardest one for me to do.
yeh im not really worried about who takes credit. i was but really i dont care now- as long as the work is getting done and the horses welfare is taken care of it really all that matters.

Hi @outlander
About your work-hours - just a few ideas because I worked full-time casual for years because it suited me but I needed some boundaries so everyone would have the rules of the thing - eg - there were times when I would not work and times when I was available
It suited me to work there because it was near my university so part of my contract was to be able to attend classes as long as I let my supervisor know - and also - regarding things like sick leave and holiday leave or working on holidays etc was covered by casual rates
So my employers and I were on the same page I had a contract
One thing about working casual hours is that your sick leave and holiday pay and public holiday or weekend rates are included in your pay which needs to have a higher hourly rate during week days but lower for weekend, holidays and overtime. You are paid the same hourly rate whenever you work
So this is easier - you have a flat rate but maybe higher than you are getting now
About your clients - we all need privacy and there is no need to answer your phone after a certain time - your boss needs to be the one who takes calls at night - and I get this - you are not being appreciated
I don't think you need to worry about being appreciated by the clients for what you do - it's not likely to happen and I know how it feels to be taken for granted - but it also seems that being taken for granted has extended from what was formerly agreed which I think was 4 days per week after you had your operation - and things have become heavier for you
And yes - we all need a few minutes to stop and collect ourselves - that's reasonable
We know your boss appreciates your work - you didn't loose your job when you were taking sick leave a few months back - so you are worth having for a horse-wranger which sounds a lot better than a cleaner-up-after-horses - and there you have a position of power you may not have realised yet
We know you and how hard you work and we appreciate you - so yes - when things settle after the New Year Weekend or when you boss gets back from holidays talk to her about this and maybe collect a few ideas to write down to present to her
And talk it out here
But yes - we do need a contract when we work - esp for casual work - and I have done a lot of that in my time
All the best Outlander

Re: I dont know how much longer i can go on like this
Hi @Bubbles3
I am okay thanks - just keeping to myself as I usually do over weekends - and two long weekends in a row is a big deal when I feel better just being alone
I would go for a walk but my knee is improving gradually and my doctor told me there is a lot of arthritis in my knee but doing okay for now
So how are you? I have thought about you with your hungry hoard over the holidays. Were they satisfied with a Christmas dinner - whatever you could manage on limited income - and were you able to get them presents they liked
And how about you - did you get something nice for Christmas?
And how are you today?

Re: I dont know how much longer i can go on like this
@Owlunarits not on the book -all under the table sort of thing so not contracts, working hrs, sick leave or anything like that. she just lets me knows what jobs need to be done. i get paid by the job. so if 1 horse takes me 2 hrs itll still only be paid just the chores wage.
ive been given a warning in regards to my work though, ive had too many days off and if it keeps up she wants someone more reliable.

IM OK @Owlunar
the kids had a good xmas. they got lots of pessies. no x,,as lunch here. couldnt afford it. but we did have an english breakfast. that was nice. i went staright back to bed after that. (food coma)
iv had really bad few weeeks. just family problems and other stuff to. to much to expalin.
it really wasnt the best xmas , thats for sure.
we were meant to be going camping but hubby dont know if he wants to go. i really want to go. i love camping. and thats if we have enough money to go to. not that it cost much. its only the cost of fuel really which is alot in our 4x4 v8, it has 2 tanks so it cost about $200 to fill it up.
so i hope we do go but will just have to wait and see.
im worry about going to court thats on the 17th of jan.
other than that nothing much else is happening.
what about you. what have you been up to

Re: I dont know how much longer i can go on like this
I get it @outlander
It does put you at a disadvantage and wow - I know you have had a lot of time off and I can understand that she might want someone more "reliable"
I remember you talked about this some time back and had a choice of how you would work - I seem to remember you would work 4 days but I could be wrong -
I also remember she thought you were a good worker - oh well
It does seem you are being used a bit - the job was important to you - is this still the case?
I was working at a disadvantage when I first started working full-time casual but I was also paying tax - it was necessary to push for a contract
yes - it can be really tough doing some kinds of work - but I guess it comes down to how badly you want to work with the horses - I have not been in touch as often because of my knee and back aching lately - but that question is still the same - how much longer do you want to go on the way you are?
btw - I still think it wouldn't hurt your mother to pay you a bit for all the work you do for the kids either - it seems you are split into bits caring for your Pop - maid job - working with the horse - 2nd job - looking after the kids - unpaid job
I guess the case is that you are not able to care for yourself - even for 5 minutes here and there and having so many responsiblities is making the whole thing tough to juggle
I get it though

Re: I dont know how much longer i can go on like this
Hi @Bubbles3
We all seem to have different degrees so family probs here - you only need to say as much as you feel like - If find my siblings very hard to get along with so I don't see them - I like my life better that way
Aw - so you are going to court - I am not facing anything so interesting though I was in court for my son several times - it is a place where we feel vulnerable regardless of why we are there - and you only need to say anything unless you feel like it
It can make Christmas harder though - I had to be in court for my son as soon as the Children's Court was open in January one year - aw that is so hard - I understand whatever it's about
I spent Christmas Day with my daughter's family - my grand-daughter and my son-in-law and my daughter's step-sons and their families and there were other children from other members of the extended family it was terrific fun seeing the kids tearing the paper off their parcels - I was there for hours and it was really great
But since then I have been here alone and this is something I find easy to sit with - all these years and I have found so much to do that I actually enjoy myself. I had movies taped to watch and I play the piano too - so being alone is fine for me
And I am planning to visit some rellies of mine interstate - probably in February - I had a knee arthroscopy done just over a month ago and it is getting better - it was worth having - and I want to be able to walk a lot when I travel - that's the best part of my holidays - walking and getting lost and needing to find my way back
But I know the city I am going to this time really well
I am glad your kids liked their pressies - are they still into Father Christmas? - and a special breakfast sounds a good idea -
I hope this year is better for you Bubbles - even though you have a court date in front of you
Just an idea - take cold drinks and something to eat with you - I found this a really good idea
