Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Re: Night Shift

Makes complete sense @BlueBay

There are two ways you can contact the moderator on shift.

1) email team@saneforums.org - which is our shared email account across all mods

2) If you're worried about someone, or want to highlight a post to the moderator that you're concerned about, you can press the 'Report Inappropriate Content', which gives you a field to explain what your concern is. This is available on desktop and tabet versions of the Forums.

Does this help?

Re: Night Shift

It's really time I got my day together - but today was what I call a bad pain day - with my spinal damage - and now I have a headache - not much - but there - and I should not look at a screen any longer

And I feel as if this is a waste of a day - but with chronic pain just surviving the day is enough and I am sure that people with our issues causing dis-ease battles too - a day survived without disaster is not wasted

I still have trouble understanding Mental Illness because it seems to me that the people I am commmunicating with have similar stress related issues - like mine - etc - life events that cause us trouble years later

However - I had a great chat session in Night Shift last night - that was fantastic - and I would hang about for more chatting but I have to get off the screen

These forums are great - how glad I am that I have found them - it's like I have a bunch of neighbours who are pretty much available to talk to - someone is always around - and it's great being a part of this forward moving website

I have left the website where I was a support member - if they haven't figured it out yet they will - and I am glad I have made that decision

Back later guys - I am nursing this headache - not much future today otherwise -

You are all so great

Re: Night Shift

Hi @Mazarita

Thanks for your suggestion - I do have a lot of help - otherwise I would not manage well at all

The whole time I was alone over Easter would not have been too bad if I had felt bad enough to ring Life Line - but I often have a private conversation before I do that - and I was not in any danger - I was fed up -

I know if I was in danger I would use my Mepacs alarm - and I did the day I had the fall that either broke or bruised a small metatarsal bone - keeping my weight off it was the advice the paramedics gave me when they got me up and into a comfortable chair - and to get to a Super Clinic for an xray if I had any reason to worry - eg worse pain or discolouration - but I could not see any reason to go to hospital -

It's not that I am getting older that I fall at times - it's my spine - I have had a recent MRI and there is no question surgery would help - it is in a sorry state and wonderful that I am as mobile as I am

But I am a survivor - and I will survive - but I do have a great team of people to help out

But thanks - not everyone would have a team like this -

Re: Night Shift

Hi @Decadian, great to hear you have the support you need. Rest well now and I hope the headache and spinal pain eases for you very quickly. As you say, a day spent surviving these things is not a day wasted - it's a day spent climbing over hurdles. Thanks for mentioning that. I hope I can remind myself of it more often, rather than sometimes getting so frustrated with myself too on 'pain days' (whether physical or mental or both). Catch up with you later.
