Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Re: Night Shift

@Former-Member @Former-Member @eth

The reunion was my husband coming back from overseas.

He has been away for three and a half weeks, but our world turned upside down and then right side up again while he was away ... and we have managed to keep it that way .... going strong here at the moment 🌷

Its a long and complicated story, but he is not very well, and doesn't know it yet. Been taking things in baby steps for quite some time, but we are getting to where we need to go, slowly but surely.

Anyone seen Notting Hill ? It's a favourite of ours.

Are you okay at a low ebb @eth ? I have them quite frequently, but just consider them part of the rhythms of life. Is it just me ?

@Former-Member I hope we are a good distraction. I hope you have some things mapped out to do for yourself in terms of self-care. It will help to make this time count for something, find something positive as a counter-weight, like creating little surprises for your kids to find about the house when they come back. It will show them that you are active about loving them even when they are not with you. Hugs xx

@Former-Member. You have been an Amazon. Thank you for sharing your courage with us. It's a real inspiration 🌷

Re: Night Shift

Thanks @eth and @Former-Member. That was the kind of advice I was looking for.

Re: Night Shift

@Former-Member I have just joined conversation, but did not find your comments problematic. We are all different; some people share more easily, others, are tighter. I am not sure which is better, but I do know that if all we freeze up and do not share anything REAL there is zilch community. it is ok to share about yourself if it is related. Sometimes it may be later that I twig how another person's sharing can be helpful and put my situation in perspective.

Re: Night Shift

Hi @Appleblossom sounds like a great night 🙂

@Faith-and-Hope I'm coping but seeing my GP more often and have things in place now to start again with psychologist and psychiatrist after a 7 month break. For me it's a bipolar swing down, not just a low day.

I'm saying goodnight all, or else I'll be awake til all hours again and that's making things worse with the depression.

Re: Night Shift

I ditto @Faith-and-Hope coments @Former-Member.

I wish movies like Notting hill were favourites in my house@Faith-and-Hope. Having 4 boys it was more like the matrix or xmen. 😬

Re: Night Shift

Thank for explaining that @eth. It is helping me learn what my daughter in law needs in managing her bipolar.

I hope you have a good sleep tonight, and sweet dreams ..... 💜

Re: Night Shift

Thanks @ Appleblossom. I think I'm going to have to leave it and see what happens. It was on another thread earlier. I hate the thought of making it worse for someone.
