Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Re: Night Shift

I'm probably doing the same thing as you @eth. I know I should be going to bed but I'm not tired. I was going to drive myself insane so I came on here. Glad you got to tick some boxes with chores. It always feels good when that happens. I've been running on adrenaline for the last week so I know my crash will come sometime but am making the most of feeling human😊

Re: Night Shift

Hi @Faith-and-Hope, @plasmo, @Former-Member, @eth, anyone else around,

Went to bed before 8pm tonight (an unheard of hour for me), woke once for a short time but went back to sleep again. Just woke up again.

Re: Night Shift

It didn't for a while @Former-Member, and I could feel my energy draining away, but I eventually got D3 to school, into the counsellor's office, and came away.

Took time out for a coffee to try to recover my batteries, and posted a 💜 out by text to a group of close friends .... I didn't want to disturb their day, but knew most of them would send a ❤️ or 🌺 or 🙂 back, as a way of "touching base". They knew me better than I thought !! I got several "are you okay?s" back again very shortly afterwards. Brought me to tears, but it was lovely.

Had to collect S2 from Art class (he got there today - yay !!), then took myself off for a foot massage. My husband is an issue at the moment, and in his emotional absence, I find just the human touch of massage very comforting, like a cuddle, although it might freak the masseuse out to know that 😏

Cooked enough dinner last night for three days, had a shower this morning, actually changed into pj's (!) and have been chillin' in bed all evening. D3 is working away here next to me, a different creature entirely from this morning, thank God !

Have been drawing in my "painting" app and feeling recharged at this end of the day, but tired now in a good way .... Thanks for asking 💗

It sounds like you're getting sorted by degrees. I hope you enjoy that course.

Hi @eth

I hope you have had a good day 🌸

Re: Night Shift

@plasmo, sounds good. At least you're there and ready for sleep when it arrives.

@eth, made it to ukelele class and it was really a lovely session. Bought my own lovely uke today to celebrate being advanced to intermediate class. Prior to that I had been using a borrowed one. After that was very tired from only 4 hours sleep last night, so afternoon nap. Woke for a few hours, went back to bed again after dinner. I think the effort of cutting back the tobacco is probably making me very tired too. Keeping to my quota of 6 per day for this week though so going okay with that. Practicing the uke a lot is helping.

Re: Night Shift

So glad you got to do something for yourelf💜 @Faith-and-Hope and that things calmed down. It's lovely that your friends responded as they did. They must know you well. It sounds like you've had a very productive day😊
This move is hopefully a fresh start and feels like I'm starting again. I have been on my own for a couple of years but I guess I'm starting to accept that I have to do more on my own thus the home maintenance course. Mind you I don't know that I'm winning. Both my son and I have tried to get off the old toilet seat to put the new one on. We've both failed to get it off😬

Hi @Mazarita.

PS I enjoy hearing how everyone's day went regardless of what happened or didn't happen😊💜

Re: Night Shift

Good for you @Mazarita rewarding yourself like that. You must love playing your own instrument at last. I seem to remember there's a ukelele festival somewhere like Eumundi every year. Have you been to it? Great that you made it out and achieved your goal for today too.

Re: Night Shift

@eth, great that you got domestics done in readiness for your trip away. It's always a good feeling afterwards. Washing still piling up here, will get to it at some time. I've been to Eumundi but not for the uke festival, it was part of a trip around years ago that included the Woodford Folk Festival.

@Former-Member, thanks for the encouragement. 🙂
