Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Hi @Mazarita

Ahhh - thanks for reminding me - I have to ring a plumber today - I had forgotten - I guess the frustrations of what I expected to be a relaxing bath disappeared after staying on line until late last night -

It is interesting how soup and stew improves the second day - I guess it has time to absorb all the flavours - and I love barley - there are times when you can eat my soup with a fork

It's a wonderful sunny day in Melbourne - cold though - but what an incredible autumn we are having and half way through May too

Re: Night Shift

Thanks so much for your comments @Faith-and-Hope

They really hit the spot and exactly what I need to read this morning.

I get pretty fed up with the pain at times - but I do have recent MRI scans of my spine and it is no easy fix - and I have found that reaching out to other people and listening to them and "seeing" the world in a different way - a clearer way - I can see what others don't or can't

But then - someone really says the right thing at the right time - and you have - it does make me feel humble and rather glad that the people I have met along the way have often come through for me in ways I rarely get a way to comment on - today - I have

Re: Night Shift

Hi there @Mazarita

There are times when I don' like getting into the shower - the stall is rather small and if the weather is cold - I can't think of it until summer or take a bath

But I might have already told you - aw - I told everyone - last night was chilly and I decided to take a bath but the cold tap exploded on me - ah - it was a disaster - and I still have to ring the plumber

I can always enjoy a hot bath - but not when the cold tap isn't working

Let's hope that throat can be sorted out - I remember I got tonsiitis on my 65 birthday - no that would be my 60th birthday - my parents gave me a party at a local hotel - and I sort of pushed my way through it

But the next morning my throat looked like bright red carpet with little cauliflowers all over it - far out

I hope your throat is nothing like that -

A BLESSING

1 Once upon a time, all the villagers decided to pray for rain. On the day of prayer all the people gathered but only one small boy came with an umbrella.
That's FAITH

2 WHEN You throw a baby in the air, they laugh because they know you will catch them.
That's TRUST

3 Almost every night we go to bed, without any assurance of being alive the nextmorning, but
still we set the alarms to wake up.
That's HOPE

4 We Plan big things for tomorrow in spite of absolutely no knowledge of the future.
That's CONFIDENCE

5 We see the world suffering and in turmoil, but still we get married.
That's LOVE

6 On an old woman’s shirt was written a cute sentence - 'I Am Not 60 Years Old.., I Am Sweet 16 with 44 Years? Experience.'
That's ATTITUDE

7 Now that you've been blessed, don't be stingy with the blessing - pass this on!
That's CARING

Gentle Thoughts for Today ❤️

I've been away for a little while,

It's good to be back.

I've got my therapy appiontment with my PSychotherapist on 31 May.

At last, I've worked out how to completely cut my Mum out of my life. It's taken me years to work this out. She uses my son to get messages to me like; I didnt call her for Mother's Day.

She is also using my Mother in Law to find out about me like, why am I angry at her.

LOL

I'm working out how to get a tutor on writing short stories.
