Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Re: Night Shift

Hi @Angels333..... I was pretty down last night in Friday Feast - I also feel like you are supposed to be cheerful there, but @CherryBomb (a moderator) reassured me that it was okay. So no need to feel bad. I've had posts removed a few times - it makes me feel a bit paranoid. I notice other people's posts are deleted sometimes. We are all human. It is good this forum is moderated - it is the best I have used, because of this.

Take care - I hope you find some relief soon...

Namaste,

A

Re: Night Shift

What is happening @PeppiPatty?

Sorry everyone I haven''t posted awhile in here - last week I was basically in bed for 5 days - sore throat, headaches, severe depression, exhaustion - still the withdrawals....

I'm really exhausted tonight, but too anxious to go to bed yet - My partner has put on Carl Barron - good to laugh...

Namaste,

Re: Night Shift

Hello everybody.

I hope you arent putting yourself through too much @Former-Member be kind to yourself. Laughter is a good release.

Its good to see you @eth.

@Angels333 It is difficult to find the line of authenticity to relate to others on Friday Feast if we are feeling down. We all struggle with it but somehow muddle through with the help of the mods.

@PeppiPatty That is a difficulty with genuine physical issues that can be played upon. I think you are being a very good mum. Gotta get our kids the help the need, and show them how to fend for themselves, but also to respect the medical systems that are stretched. I have walked with a mum/daughter ABI relationship over 30 years (from a distance). Even you of all people who can empathise by personality and through hard and shocking experience, would struggle with the complexities you deal with your son's situation. Gently confron him when you feel he is attention seeking. His situation is exceptional. There is no normal way to view it, and our heads are such a key part of identity. He also might be trying to deal with it differently to you, just to prove that he is a different person, and to individuate from you.

I let my son argue with me a bit, as he needs to know that I know he is a unique beautiful passionate courageous creature.

Listen to your gut and your head. We all hope your boy comes good ... physically, and substance wise.

He might be throwing up for a few reasons .. I dont know.

Long term he does need to manage the consequences of his brain surgery situation without you...helping him establish some credibility with his health team is huge ... that is the aim of parenting ... to be able to get them to that place. Take it step by delicate step.

Thinking of you all.

Re: Night Shift

Your a lovely person @Former-Member
Love hearing about you and your partner.
My son wants to move into our home and got support while he works out going to university and he spent three weeks in and out of hospital with migranes and vomiting.

He told me he collapsed when he left the police station yesterday when he went to bring up charges on my ex husband.
Please secretly smile at youraelf from me. I think your doing great.

Did you eead @Appleblossom? Our sons about the same age. It's very hard to juggle your way through all this stuff. What is too much wjat is too little? Looking forward to hearing from you

What's happening @Former-Member?
Please write when you can? Here for you.
And your 2 children.
Are you working full time?
@Appleblossom we don't have private medical insurance but when he goes into hospital.... he is taken straight through and top specialiats see him almost immediately. I comment these people have been in uni for years so do not waste their time making anything up.
To tell the truth Apple you bring up valid pionts. My Psychotheripist wrote to me advising me to keep a certain distance from what is happening.
She wrote that He will do what he needs to do but I need to like do this out of self preservation ill check the message again because don't know if that is right
