Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Dear lj

Thinking of you heaps, don't know how you do it. Teaching of all jobs has lots of homework attached ... not a job you can leave behind once you have left the workplace. I have made bad hair days a signature look. I just do the ruffle thing through my hair and that's it. So I look like your little friend most of the time. Gotta keep up the madwoman in the attic mystique ... but no attic .. shucks.

Dear maz and shaz

You have both lightened my days, by sharing your selves and just being there. thanks. Can you forgive me for rhyming ... just cant help it sometimes .. its a disease.

Dear Peppi

I hope you get something out of the books. We live so much in our heads, that it is good to share that time with good authors. We are finally coming into our own as a nation with a growing body of literature.. that is thoughtful, quirky, unique and makes me like Australians more ... so that's gotta be a plus. Cos I begin to understand why so many of them have been so towy and bad tempered over the years .. its a tuff country, but we love it too.

Thats a lot of meds. No wonder you are a bit scattered sometimes. I think you do an amazing job keeping so optimistic and friendly. Take care Bella

Cheers to anyone I have missed or who has not posted for a while.

Am missing @Former-Member but respect your choice to post or not. Hope you are ok.

Re: Night Shift

Yes, i hope i can manage some sleep too. i try to think i will.

@Former-Member, we don't know what the future holds, good or bad, focusing on it only makes us more anxious, the only thing we can control is the hear and now, find small ways to enjoy this moment, the little things, what are the fur babies doing, a breeze gusting through the house, the smells in the air, etc.

I know how hard things must be my friend, you do so much, two little ones, full time job, it is really hard, but you know what, you are doing it, please be proud of the fact you are caring not only for yourself or your children, but structuring the lives of the next generation of humans. being a teacher, you shape the adults that they are going to become, that is so noble. be proud of that 🙂

Re: Night Shift

Thank you @Former-Member, see it now.

Not having a good day myself but I'll survive. Thanks for asking. My head doesn't cooperate very often either....

@Jacques, amazing that with all you have been going through yourself you can still come & offer comfort & support to others.

Take care, keep safe.

Re: Night Shift

I was impressed you teach choir. lj. I guess there are lots of Bananas up north on TI.

It takes a lot of energy to keep up the front and the concentration you need in a class full of young nippers.

I am just back from rehearsal which went okish we are now with the 2 choirs together and there are lots of tricky fast back and forth "chatting" between the 2 choirs. I need to do some homework so I am sure of my bit.

Dont worry about not being able to imagine a good future yet. It has taken me a long time to get over my separation. Maybe yours will be quicker. But it is what it is. It takes as long as it takes in your individual situation. You dont have to pretend to be positive. Sometimes you have to actually survey the damage, lick your wounds, and assess what it is that you actually can tackle. You dont want to burn out.

Take care of yourself as well as the children.

Hi @Drac0,

I do find it easier being kind to others than myself, you are all so wonderful to me and i like to repay the favour when i can. we have not met, i don't think, but i have seen you around, you support people too, you are such a kind and caring person, i am so glad you joind this forum.

Re: Night Shift

I am ok. @Jacques Still havent addressed all my electrical issues, but trip into town, dinner with son, and rehearsal were all good. It was a bit hot but very balmy around 11ish as I was coming home. It meant that there was an upbeat mood in the train. I am ok. My feet are sore, makes me feel good for exercising. Dont worry about me. I just posted on your thread I hope its ok.

Re: Night Shift

Sorry to hear you'renot having good time @Drac0 ... if only our brains listened what we want them to do/be like...

Thank you everyone, think im just running low on everything, will pick up again, im sure.

@Appleblossom yes, i can imagaine having two sets of music would be a lot to contend with and keep straight. I love singing with the kids, im not afraid to sing with them, kids are kind and not judgmental, and they like to do silly warm ups where we speak in high voices and sing 'rubber chickens' at the end at the same time as jumping up and down in a circle (wanna try it with your choir hehe?!)

Your post to @Jacques on anger was very insightful. You share so well on those topics, and it's not just your intended recipient who gets a lot from them. You are an amazing person, i wish your journey was easier though. I hope that your kitchen continues to come along and you allow yourself some of those appliances that can make life easier because you do deserve them and as easy a life as you can (and more). with hugs

LJ

Re: Night Shift

Don't know why, but with feeling ill I'm also feeling lost right now. No idea what to do or anything. Just out of pace with the world. Don't know where to turn. Hate it.

Re: Night Shift

Are you physically ill you mean @Drac0? Perhaps a trip to the GP would help tomorrow?
