Re: I'm going nowhere and people can see it... what is my life..

I have a major essay due this week and I have NO IDEA how to answer the question. There are 3 to pick from but I can't pick one because I don't know how to answer any of them. I feel like I don't know anything. My notes are done on my tablet so at least I can read them and the lectures are recorded and the transcript is there word for word. But I just have no motivation right now at all. I just want to distract myself from my reality.

I hate not having money. I hate not having a gf. I hate having social anxiety because it has held me back and continues to do so. I have no drive for anything and I don't care. I hate being so tall and noticeable because I'm thin and no matter how much weight I try I don't put on weight. I hate that no one will take me seriously in life and I hate that people are going to judge me forever.

I hate 'just surviving' rather living my life as a young 24 year old guy. What did I do to end up here.

My dad just spoke to me about what I'm doing to search out job opportunities and internships and such for next year but I have no idea how he and my mum can help me. They want to help but I have no idea how they can...

I hate that I have gotten to a point where I am at now.

I'm bound to become a loser. Even people I went to school with are doing better than I am. Everyone is leaving me. I'm going to become an embarassment.

I know i have it better than people, but my depression and my social anxiety holds me back so much. Last night I wanted to enjoy myself but I struggled to...

There's nowhere on earth I will fit in.

Hi @MDT

Not sure if it helps, but all of us at times battles self belief and questions where we belong in the world. We are usually much harder on ourselves than others can be. Mostly others don't even notice as they are busy battling their own issues in life. You are not alone.

We can't compare ourselves to others as all have different circumstances - and some could of had a much better start in life, had more life opportunities than others, better health, better financial position, and may have had much more support and help than others. And we don't know what others may be going through and battling with a smile - to them our lives may be better. The grass always looks greeener on the other side. It's pointless to compare.

No one is a loser in life if they give it their best shot. We are only losing if we never try.

Its not about achieving the highest academic results or being the best at everything - it's pursuing our passions/interests - those things that matters "to us personally as individuals" that gives us personal meaning and fulfilment that will lead us to where we belong in life. Finding and working out the latter will help guide us in shaping our personal and future goals/career etc. We are all good at something. It's trial and error sometimes in finding this for all and if we don't give up and work hard we will eventually find it. Worry not. Baby steps.

Your parents may be able to help you with research on the essay questions you have to answer. Talking to someone about their understanding of these questions may help guide you to proper relevant research online.Tackling just this for now so you are not overwhelmed by pressure is perhaps the first step. When reading this research something "will click" with you that will lead to answering one of the questions and then it's adding on from there. Trust your intuition and skills and do your best. That's all any of us can do, all that is required and it is enough. Be kind to you and take it in your stride moment to moment for now.

Hi @MDT

It is true that an arts degree is not direct training for a job, but learning critical thinking it does give you an edge and in the process you will come to know your own values and choose work, study or specific training that will be useful. I have never regretted my arts degree. You can do it, bite the bullet and get it done. It does not have to be a world class essay.

Re: I'm going nowhere and people can see it... what is my life..

thanks @Appleblossom what did you major in with your degree?

@outlander hey 🙋 thanks for your support and help too. Especially when you are going through tough times too.

I am on my way to uni atm. Woke up feeling reflective and placid i guess. Whatever happens, happens. Saturday night was interesting and i learned a few things. Can move forward now. Even if i had to watch a friend smooch up with his gf (who btw is overtly erradic). The same friend who made out that i lied about my MH. But life has a way of bringing people together so i put it behind me. Ironically i learned that his gf has an ongoing fued with another girl in that group. What a weird thing..
I also spoke to mum this morning about how people can be pathological... no self awareness mechanism or capacity to sympathise with others.. or think about how hypocritical they could be.
People are weird..
