impulse tattoos on arms... regret

impulse tattoos on arms... regret

has anyone impulsively gotten tattooss ?
i did about 4 years ago now and i still get so down about them because i see them everyday on my arms. i feel like such an idiot because i used to take alot of pride and care in how.i.looked but.now its hard for.me to feel attractive and confident and good about myself. its like i dont care anymore. the day before i got these tattoos (i didnt have it planned and hate the design n writting)i was seeing a guy who told.me he slept with a friend of.mine that week. i just lost my sense of worth and went and got them as a.distraction. now i have to live with them everyday........ this all happened before i had a psychosis id always had down moments though but i do believe it contributed to my break down. im not vain but i do care abojt how i present.myself and how i.look. any ideas or tips for coping ? id much appreciate. thank you

Re: impulse tattoos on arms... regret

I did the same thing many years ago. I can't afford to have them removed so I use them as a reminder not to do impulsive things (it does work somewhat) and a reminder of the folly of youth.

And I always wear sleeves!

Hi @Sammy16,

I am guessing the like MaryMahem that tattoo removal or "fixing" it to something you like is too expensive? (ive never looked into it so have no idea about the cost).

@MaryMahem your suggestion to use the tattoos as a reminder and accept them as a learning curve is very wise and admirable but must have been difficult, did you struggle with that initally?

does anyone else have visible evidence of things they regret doing? if so how have you dealt with it?

Re: impulse tattoos on arms... regret

I did struggle for a long time and I still have days of struggle now. It is hard in summer when I would like to wear sleeveless clothes or when I'm in a new relationship. They do not match my personality or appearance anymore. Luckily I have decided to fully embrace
my inner crazy cat lady and relationships are no longer a problem.

removal takes about 12 sessions and is about $200 per session for me. ive had 3 sessions already so about 9 to go......... they have to be 2 months apart aswell. 2 to 3 months i think. so long road ahead but ill do it because its affecting my mental health. @MaryMahem i love that youve fully embraced. thats beautiful in of itself. so great to hear............
