The really important things that new moderators need to know

The really important things that new moderators need to know

Hi all,

I super really don't do change well. I may possibly have called the SANE helpcentre this morning and one of the new moderators may possibly have answered the phone and after quite a lengthy stunned silence, the first words that fell out of my mouth may possibly have been "I don't know you."

Anyway, after we got passed that bit (which took a little while), during the course of the conversation I mentioned some things about Forum Land, which it turns out had somehow been left out of the Welcome to Forum Land induction manual. So, being the ever helpful little turtle that I am, I thought I'd start a thread so that we can all tell the new moderators the really important things they need to know in order to feel at home in Forum Land. I'll start...

The first thing you need to know is that our fearless Commander in Chief of Forum Land, @NikNik, lives in a giant flying nutella jar and it is from this vantage point that she zooms all around Forum Land making sure that everything is super safe and running smoothly. She will probably give you a ride in it if you ask her nicely. Hey @Former-Member has NikNik taken you for a ride in her nutella jar yet?

The second thing you need to know is that we are super lucky to have @Former-Member as a moderator in Forum Land because she is amazingly wise. A few months ago she enlightened us all about the fact that the reason the moon doesn't wear underpants is that it affects the tides and the weather too much. Thus now, whenever there is a major weather event, the first thought that pops into my head is that the moon must have been wearing underpants! Just think New Moderator, if you spend time working in the same office as @Former-Member, you may become as wise as her one day.

Ok, well I think that will do for a start. Hopefully some other Forumites will wander past with further contributions. Don't worry New Moderator I'm sure you will feel right at home in Forum Land super soon.

TOR actually came about BECAUSE you needed a corner little turtle I suppose it kind of existed before but the corners started from that one little turtle hiding away for a week (in silence) but dropping little things off as she entered and left

I do believe that was the quietest you have ever been - after that you were 'talking' even when you weren't talking and now you don't shut -up lol - oh dear - I just realised - WE created the safe space initially for you therefore we (I) must be responsible for the little turtle that now appears in forumland - omg I AM TO BLAME!!! It is a wonder I haven;t been kicked out by now (probably will be after this revelation LOL LOL)

On a more serious note - it is wonderful to look back to that little turtle and to know the one that we 'see' now - you have come a long way and I cannot imagine forumland without you

@Zoe7 Giggle. I bet @NikNik, @Former-Member @Former-Member @Former-Member, @Former-Member or someone is probably making a sign right now to place at the entrance of Forum Land, that says please do not encourage sea turtles into any buildings in Forum Land.

There is only ONE little sea turtle that we care about here @Phoenix_Rising - maybe instead of a sign we should erect a statue of you at the entrance lol

@Zoe7 I am trying to make the move off the computer and into bed, and you really aren't helping right now. If SANE the Sea Turtle was made into a soft toy, it would have to come with a button that you pressed and it would say phrases like Don't touch me and I don't do change.
