Hey @Former-Member, I need reminding often enough myself.
At the moment I'm trying to work out if I'm falling into the "negative self talk" trap. It's tricky... there's a lot that's just genuinely hard, and dishonest self talk that doesn't acknowledge that is no good either. But at the same time I don't want to mentally back myself into a corner by only seeing the dark clouds and not the rainbows. (This afternoon's weather- a very pretty reminder. 🙂 )
Particularly I'm trying to see how I can make this next trip to my parents as positive as possible. Visiting them at the aged care home is hard- both emotionally, and the practical difficulty of getting there and back without a car. But at the same time its important. One day they won't be there to visit anymore.
Packing and sorting... we're planning on making another trip up by car to bring back a trailerload in the next school hols, so I'm thinking of focusing on getting together whatever I think will fit in the load, so that it's ready to go. That will mean when Hubby and younger daughter are there with me, we can focus on things like getting some of Dad's scrap metal stash to a merchant, and doing some heavy/bulky items sorting. The stuff that really needs to be a two person lift, or is just easier with two or three sets of hands (and brains. 😛 ).
And for mental health, we'll see if we can fit in a few outings too. Make a semi-holiday of it. One day will be taken up with Hubby demonstrating his trade at a historic festival in a nearby town. The organisers contacted him a while ago asking if he could attend, and we realised we could nicely fit it into a sorting trip.
